Grace Booth 2024 5’11 Hico High School, TX (West Texas Shockers 2024)
Grace is an elite combo guard who showed am ability to finish through contact at the rim, create looks for her teammates within the half court and even stretch the floor off the dribble. She has great size for a point guard, and loves to use it to her advantage after taking her opponent off the bounce. She lived in the paint all day, if she created a glimmer of separation she slipped through it to get into the lane. I was very impressed with her aggressiveness and ability to create space with and without the basketball.
She was willing to move without the ball and cut to the basket, but her true prowess lies in her ability to create with a live dribble. She created countless looks for her teammates, and her passes were always in the right spot to allow her teammates to quickly get a shot off. She got her bigs involved and found them on numerous dump off passes for effortless looks in the paint, but also found her shooters in the corner when the defense collapsed on them. Her calmness and decision making with the basketball was truly on display and I was very impressed with her overall feel for the game.
Ella Martin 2024 6’1 Union High School, OK (Team Griffin Elite 2024 Owens)
Ella is the ideal stretch forward with her ability to play inside out and stretch the floor from the midrange and beyond the arc. She was very impressive and calmly knocked down shot after shot from the perimeter after her lead guard (Seldon Stover 2024) drew the defenses attention. The two of them have a real connection in the half court, if Stover ever feels the big collapse on her she calmly found Martin flashing to the midrange or the arc for an open look. I was also very impressed with their connection in the pick and roll/ pop. Martin always seemed to make the right decision on whether to slip the screen, get the switch and dominate in the paint or knock down a shot from the free throw line.
Ella did not just dominate on the offensive end, she dominated on the perimeter and in the paint on defense as well. She showed a high level ability to move her feet and keep guards in front of her, and even had an emphatic block on a jumper on the perimeter. She anchors their defense in the back and allows them to pressure the ball on the perimeter and funnel the opponent into her waiting arms.
Seldon Stover 2024 5’9 Owasso High School, OK (Team Griffin Elite 2024 Owens)`
Seldon is an aware point guard who is explosive out of the triple threat and in the full court. Her sudden burst of speed allows her to create seperation in the half court, and allows her to be a real threat in the pick and roll. She has a real connection with her big (Ella Martin 2024) in the pick and roll. Stover thrives at getting into the lane and making the right kick out pass for an open shot, whether that is on the backside or finding her popping forward out on the perimeter. Her ability to control the tempo of the game and the rhythm of the offense within the half court was very impressive. The entire offense ran through her and her ability to manipulate the defenses with a live dribble. I was blown away with her poise and feel for the game. She really reads the game at a high level, and makes the right decisions in an instant.
She plays the game like a true floor general, and showed an ability to do it all defensively as well. She rebounds well for a guard which allows her to put the ball on the floor and push the pace and score on the break. She routinely out raced her opponents down the court and finished with ease at the rim after snatching a rebound. She has active hands and feet, which allowed her to stay in front of her defender and also poke the ball free.
Fia Filoialii 2024 5’11 James E. Taylor High School, TX (Texas Cagers Select 2024)
Fia is a dynamic point forward with some real size who reads the game and sees the floor like a point guard, yet finishes in the paint like a forward. She is good out of the triple threat, but truly thrives in the full court when she is able to get a full head of steam and get into the paint. She has the ability to snatch a rebound off the glass and go coast to coast and make the right lead pass to a streaking teammate or a dump off pass after she has drawn the last defender. I was very impressed with her handle in the full court, she dominated her defenders in the open court and finished at the rim at will.
She is able to play outside-in, and dance around her defender to get into the paint or play inside-out and work from the mid post or on the block. I was very impressed with her natural forward like control in the post, and her ability to move without the basketball. She flashed to the high post or the paint for easy looks and always seemed to be in the right spot for a dump off pass for a teammate who was in trouble. Her ability to truly do it all allows her to play alongside another big due to her ability to find space seemingly anywhere on the floor. I was very impressed with her poise and maturity with the basketball and her ability to make something out of nothing.
Riley Grohmann 2024 5’11 Jim Ned High School, TX (Texas Platinum 2024 Bruce)
Riley is a dynamic playmaker with a live dribble who has a real feel for the game in the full court and the half court. She showed an ability to push the tempo and go coast to coast after snatching a rebound, but her true prowess lies in her ability to read the defense in the half court. She is calm with the basketball and LOVES getting her teammates involved. She always made the extra pass to set up a teammate for a better look, even in the paint making dump off passes to her bigs to easily finish rather than her attempting to put up a shot over the defense. She is not just a passer however, she calmly turned the corner on her opposition and exploded out of the triple threat to keep the defense off balance.
On defense, she is aware and reads her opposition very well to come up with quick steals by poking the ball free, or jumping the passing lanes. Her ability to create turnovers and havoc was very impressive and gave her and her team easy opportunities to finish on the fast break. She showed an ability to go coast to coast, but also made the right outlet passes to find streaking teammates and even tough bounce passes when she had a two on one. I was incredibly impressed with her basketball IQ, she truly did it all on both ends of the floor.
