Aurora Hernandez 2024 5’8 The Woodlands High School, TX (Lady Hustle 2023 National)
Aurora is a high level combo guard/wing who can score off the bounce with ease from all three levels of the floor. I was very impressed with her ability to shoot off the bounce and take the looks that the defense gave her. She scored with consistency when given space to catch and shoot from beyond the arc as well. I loved her energy and her consistency in running the floor, she always wanted to beat the defense up the court for quick buckets in transition. She is an engaged player who is always looking to read the defense and get an advantage, even when taking a breather on the bench. She is a great teammate who worked to keep her teammates engaged with high energy and positive reinforcement. I would like to see her work on her aggressiveness in getting to the rim with a live dribble.
Madison Mckinzie 2023 5’9 Dumas High School, AK (South Arkansas Hoopsters 2023)
Madison is an engaged player who lived in the paint with her ability to rebound the ball and fight on the offensive glass. Her length constantly harassed ball handlers on the perimeter and forwards in the paint. I was very impressed with her defensive instincts and active hands and her ability to play on both ends of the court at a high level. She fights hard to go after every long rebound and loose ball. She is not afraid to dive onto the court and slide into the stands after a loose ball, that energy is something that coaches love at the next level, so expect her stock to rise as she goes into her senior year next year.
Charis Phoenix Charis Phoenix 5'7" Jordan | 2023 TX 2023 5’8 Jordan High School, TX (Texas Cagers Select 2023 White)
Charis is an incredibly skilled guard who sees the floor well and creates space with her handle with ease. I was very impressed with her touch on her shot in the paint as well as the touch she displayed on full court passes that hit her teammates in stride. Her overall feel for the game and her basketball IQ were on full display as she dominated on both ends of the court. She read her opponents well and jumped passes in the passing lanes and took them the length of the court and finished well on the fast break. Her ability to go coast to coast truly stood out, she finished well at the rim and made the right reads to set up her teammates.
Leandria Holmes 2023 5’10 Klein Forest High School, TX ( Hoop Lovers 2023)
Leandria is a high level guard who plays on both ends of the court and lived on the fast break after picking passes in the passing lane or rebounding the ball. She is aware on the break and made the right reads and constantly created for her teammates and found them with crisp passes that hit them in stride. In the half court, she constantly found her teammates and created shot opportunities for them. She displayed an ability to knock down shots off the dribble from beyond the arc. She constantly hit shots and was always a threat to score from the outside.
Aalayah Wright 2023 6’1 (Homeschool, Hoop Lovers 2023)
Aalayah was one of the most polished bigs in attendance with smooth footwork and patience with her back to the basket. She has high level moves in the post and constantly manipulated her defenders with up fakes. Her consistency in the post truly stood out and she worked hard to front her defender for easy opportunities. I would like to see her work on her defensive awareness and work on hustling back while staying focused on the opposing fast break. At times she was a bit lost on where her defensive assignment should be while getting back on defense.
