And while it was lightly attended, primarily because numerous programs have not set their squads yet, there was some quality play to watch. Teams from three states gathered at Andover’s Farha YMCA courts to get some action. Enjoy this look at 2024s who stood out.
Kambry Adams Kambry Adams 5'9" | PF Macksville | 2024 State KS , 5’9″, PF, Macksville, KS Dream Team – A nice combination of speed and solid built what I thoroughly enjoy was how well she boxes out on both ends of the floor. .
Keyona Hall Keyona Hall 5'8" | SG Liberal | 2024 MO , 6’0″, CG/SF, Liberal, SSA Gameball – Hall knocked down wing and corner three balls off the catch all day. A lengthy wing, Hall could be found getting clobbered off the bounce…and then stepping to the line and completing the old-fashioned three point play. A developing scorer.
Ava Howie Ava Howie 5'11" | PF Maize South | 2024 State KS , 5’10″, PF, Maize South, SSA Gameball Basketball – As Howie gets stronger she has a shot at turning into stretch four material. She showed a good mid-range shot off catch, that she will step out and hit a three, and that she can occasion overpower defenders. Howie has the ability to go end-to-end off the rebound.
Jera Kruleski Jera Kruleski 5'7" | SG Holcomb | 2024 State KS , Holcomb, 5’7″, CG, Magic – Kruleski showed ball skills and an ability to split defenders. She can score against contact but needs to get stronger to be able to better absorb them.
Eva Malm, 5’5″, SG, McPherson, Wheat State Elite Malm – Malm showed good speed in transition and range on three ball. She gets a lot of air under on her perimeter shot.
Jalyiah Manual Jalyiah Manual 6'0" | SF East | 2024 State KS , 6’0″, PF, Wichita East, SSA Gameball Basketball – Manual is solidly build, fast, raw, long, and raw skilled post. Talks well on D with quickness to help on wing drives and toughness to gather rebounds versus contact. Like her hops too.
Elizabeth Romer Elizabeth Romer 5'10" | SF Kapaun Mt. Carmel | 2024 State KS , 5’10″, CG, Kapaun Mt. Karmel, Kansas United – Romer had a good weekend. She showed her perimeter shooting game and attacked the basket well to finish with length. She was able to absorb fouls and get to the line, where she was also very good. Romer showed transition speed and used her length well defending on the perimeter.
Alana Shetlar Alana Shetlar 6'1" | PF Andover | 2024 State KS , 6’2″, PF/SF, Andover, Kansas United – Shetler showed why she is difficult to handle on both ends of the floor. To start with she is long, fast, and can played and defended three positions. She was quick enough to defend on the wing, physical inside defending bigs, and blocked shots without fouling from a variety of angles. Offensively, she smartly can get to basket off the bounce and finish with length. She also buried mid-range shots and the occasional three ball.
Caya Smith Caya Smith 6'2" | SF Putnam City West | 2024 State OK , 6’2″, CG, Putnam City West (OK), Below The Rim – Smith is a problem on both ends of the floor. She showed good speed, hustle, athleticism and the ability to use her solid build to compete well inside.
Jaden Wilson Jaden Wilson 5'11" | PF Derby | 2024 State KS , 6’0″, SF/PF, Derby, SSA Gameball Basketball – The solidly built Wilson showed speed, athleticism, and strength. She has quick hands and can block shots without fouling. She played on the wing some but made her living scoring off the catch inside, rebounding, scoring from 8’ and in from the basket.
