The 2022 State Champion Minot High Majettes had a phenomenal season to say the least. Capturing their first State Championship since 1978 lead by 8th Graders Maggie Fricke Maggie Fricke 5'7" | PG Minot | 2025 ND and Leelee Bell Leelee Bell 6'0" | SF Minot | 2026 State ND . Minot had a very successful regular season itself with only 3 losses, 2 of which were to defending State Champions Bismarck Century, and the other to Bismarck High. They captured the #2 seed in the State tournament and never looked back knocking off Bismarck Century in an absolute battle to claim the Class A State Championship 75-68.
The team itself has a squad loaded with young talent that will be making a huge impact in the WDA and the State for years to come. Maggie Fricke Maggie Fricke 5'7" | PG Minot | 2025 ND led the team in scoring with 16.3ppg (5th in the WDA) and shot an impressive 88.3% from the FT Line. She was selected All-Conference and 2nd Team All-State, and State Tournament MVP. She not only handles the ball like a seasoned pro, but she shoots like one as well. She proved she can play at a top level, and she wont be slowing down anytime soon.
Leelee Bell Leelee Bell 6'0" | SF Minot | 2026 State ND also had a huge impact on the Majettes’ success all throughout the year. She averaged 15.1ppg (7th in the WDA), 7.3rpg (8th in the WDA), 1.3bpg (2nd in the WDA) and proved she can not only dominate in the paint offensively and defensively, but she has no problem handling the ball up the court, setting the pace of the game and knocking down 3pt shots as well. She respectively was also selected All-Conference and 2nd Team-All state.
The success of Minot does not stop there, 2x All-Conference selection Avery Lunde Avery Lunde 5'9" | SG Minot | 2024 State ND had another good year averaging 9.1ppg and shooting 48.2% from the field, and an impressive 38.3% from the 3-point line and was 3rd in the WDA shooting 78% from the FT Line. She is an all-around great player who can play almost any position. She sees the court well, is aggressive on defense, and is not shy to drive the lane, and knock down big shots.
The Majettes are loaded with young raw talent that will only continue to get better and better. There is no doubt they will be back next year in hopes of defending their state championship. The future is looking pretty exciting in the “Magic City”, and they proved they are here to stay.
Dickinson (4-17)
Dickinson High didn’t quite have the year they were hoping for, but never-less there is a lot of talent on their roster looking to make their mark in the WDA. She was the team’s leading scorer (6th in the WDA) at 15.2ppg and also a dominate rebounder leading the team in rebounding (5th in the WDA) 8.5rpg. Right beside her though the season was Junior Emily Ash Emily Ash 5'6" | PG Dickinson | 2023 State ND a 5’10 Guard/Forward that for sure left her mark in the WDA. She’s a tall versatile athlete in the paint and poses a threat shooting outside.
