The 2024 class is DEEP with talent and I expect to see some shifting around, including these 5 young ladies climbing up the list as we conclude AAU ball later this summer and get into the next basketball season.
Lauren Grinde Lauren Grinde 5'7" | SG Tri-Valley | 2024 State SD – G – 5’6″
Hometown Team – Tri-Valley
AAUTeam – Pentagon Schoolers-Tornberg
Grinde is as explosive as they come. She has a great first step to the rim and can get there in 1 dribble from anywhere outside the three. Pair this with a consistently improving ability to knock it down from outside and you have one of the most dynamic scorers in the area. Defensively she works intensely to keep her opponent stifled and does a great job with on-ball pressure. Look for Grinde to vault up the rankings from her current spot at 44 all the way into the top 20, if not higher.
Ava Nillson Ava Nillson 6'0" | SG Warner | 2024 State SD – G – 6’0″
Hometown Team – Warner
AAUTeam – N/A
Nilsson is a superb prospect out of Warner. She is 6 feet tall and has a guard skillset, making her an intriguing prospect to translate to the next level. She shoots it well from downtown and is developing her ability to attack off the dribble and score around the rim. She uses her impressive length to disrupt the passing lanes for her opponents and creates a lot of turnovers all on her own. Stewart Bohle’s up-tempo pressure defensive system fits her extremely well and she has an extremely high IQ on both ends. Currently sitting at number 33 I expect Ava to be in the top 15 by the start of next season. Loads of upside in this talented player!
Abby Aslesen Abby Aslesen 5'11" | SF Howard | 2024 State SD – F/C – 5’11″
Hometown Team – Howard
AAUTeam – Sacred Hoops
Aslesen is a talented player with her back to the basket, one of the better you will find. Along with this, she is a shot disruptor on the defensive end and provides phenomenal help defense on the blocks to make it tough going in the paint for her opponents. With her already skilled post-play game and a developing game on the perimeter in terms of handles and outside shooting she has huge upside. Currently checking in at number 36 in the rankings with a productive summer I expect this superbly talented young lady to crack the top 15 in her class.
Courtney Sees Courtney Sees 5'5" | PG Avon | 2024 State SD – G – 5’6″
Hometown Team – Avon
AAUTeam – SD Attack
Sees is an electric guard with a superb competitive mindset. Her willingness to work and desire to be great helps her crack this list alone, but don’t sleep on her talent. She has great handles and is one of the most adept at creating her own looks from the perimeter or at the rim. Attacking the rim comes naturally and she does a great job finishing around defenders as well as finding opportunities to set up her teammates to score. This young lady comes in ranked number 20 but I expect to see her pushing the top 10 by summer’s end. She is improving year after year and is an extremely exciting guard to keep your eyes on.
Nora Dinger Nora Dinger 5'4" | PG Wall | 2024 State SD – G – 5’4″
Hometown Team – Wall
AAUTeam – N/A
I’m predicting a highest climber award for Nora Dinger Nora Dinger 5'4" | PG Wall | 2024 State SD , Wall’s immensely talented guard. After a run to the 2022 state tournament, I expect big things out of the Lady Eagles and this young lady will be one of their brightest spots to focus your attention. Dinger has a nice set shot from the perimeter and is one of the best ball-hawking guards you will find, constantly harassing other team’s guards. Her ability to attack off the dribble and speeding up the delivery of her shot could move her up a couple of dozen spots alone and I expect her game to continue to rise. She comes in ranked number 81 in her class and I foresee her cracking the top 40 if not even higher. A vault up the leaderboard of 40+ spots is a big accomplishment and I think this talented guard can do it.
