Mikayla Pilley | Forward | OK Swift 2025 | 2025
Mikayla scores in so many different ways. If you are trying to defend her you have to stay on your toes, because she can put the ball in the hole any way you want it. She made the catch and shoot three, she attacked off the dribble and finished at the rim, rebounded on the offensive end for easy putbacks, she had a mid-range game, and she makes free throws. Mikayla is also athletic enough to get out in transition and score with the ball, make plays, or clean up any misses a teammate may have.
Tyra McKinnie | Forward | Team Griffin Elite 2025 – Wernli | 2026
If I was to give out a MOP Award for the weekend it would go to this young lady. Some players can play well against non-athletic players or players who are not physical. It didn’t matter who was matched up with Tyra, she was a problem. If you have someone bigger, then she would get around them. If they are similar in size and athletic ability, then she would outwork them. Her energy, effort, intensity, and competitive nature to go along with her athleticism and skill is a scary sight. Her potential is through the roof for this young lady and she will only be a freshman for the 2022-2023 basketball season.
Kate Wernli | Wing | Team Griffin Elite 2025 – Wernli | 2026
Kate was one of the most impressive wing players in the 15U division. Her versatility to play multiple positions on the perimeter adds value to her team. She can be a scorer from the wing position or slide over to the point and be a facilitator. Her nice shooting touch was on display during the championship game as she made shots from various spots on the floor. Kate made mid-range as well as three-pointers off the catch and shoot. She also has the ball-handling ability to get into the lane. Her size allows her to play through contact and finish plays or bounce off defenders and still deliver passes to her teammates.
Saniyah Morrison | Combo Guard | Rebel Elite 2025 | 2025
Saniyah is a flat-out hooper. She is a player that you don’t have to call plays for. Just put the ball in her hands and tell her to go make a play. She has the IQ to make great decisions with the ball. If additional defenders rotate over she will deliver the pass. If the defense backs up she shoots the mid-range pull-up. If she gets you on her hip she’ll get to the rim and finish herself. She’s not afraid of anyone and don’t mind being physical on both ends of the floor. This is often seen by how she goes after rebounds and 50/50 balls. She’s one of the few players I’ve seen be consistent with her play on both ends of the floor during the PGH Circuit this spring.
Marin Adams | Point Guard | AAO Flight 2025 | 2025
Marin has good length for the point guard position. Her length really comes in handy when she is attacking the basket and stretches out to get around the defense for the finish. She has a calm demeanor that keeps her cool under pressure. She can make jump shots from the mid-range and from behind the three-point line. In transition, she is always looking to pass ahead or she can keep it and finish herself. Marin does a good job of using her length on defense. When she gets wide her long arms can disrupt passes and make it tough for players to make shots when she contest.
Kaycee McCumber | Forward | AAO Flight 2025 | 2025
Kaycee is a player that is going to play hard and bring her team energy. Her effort is really seen when she attacks the backboard for rebounds. When she secures the defensive rebound she gets the outlet pass out quickly or pushes it herself looking to make a play. If she handles the ball in the open court she has the vision to find her teammates or the skill to take it all the way and finish herself. When on defense she provides good help defense that leads to blocked or altered shots.
Jordyn Anderson | Point Guard | Lions Elite Gold 2025 | 2025
Jordyn is a point guard that also possesses a wide range of skills. She can be a scorer or a facilitator. Offensively she can score off the catch and shoot or beat the defender off the dribble. She has great patience off the catch before she attacks and she has good footwork. Her patience and footwork keep her on balance and allow her to attack the defense going downhill. This advantage draws additional defenders and Jordyn has the passing skill to find her teammates. I knew coming into the weekend she could score the ball in the half-court, in transition, in mid-range, and in other ways, but this weekend I really enjoyed seeing her defense. She did really well pressuring the ball and causing turnovers.
