I love Friday night games fr a number of reasons, mainly because it gives me a jump on seeing more teams which equates to more players and I'll be primarily covering the 17U Division from the Dynasty Region, but that won't stop me from zig-zagging to other teams from other regions so I did a little mix to open up PGH Live
Andrea Walser-5'7 SG (Fossil Ridge HS) State) State 38 Black 2023
Walser showed she could score multiple ways and when you can create your shot under pressure, you have an advantage but the young lady from Colorado also picked just when she wanted to show the jumper and did a good job getting it off while being defended but her deceptive first step also came in handy as it helped her attack the basket from multiple angles
[player_tooltip player_id="63034" first="Brynne" last="Katcher"]-5'11 SG (Valley HS) Beyond Ball 24K 2023
Katcher uses her size nicely and I speak often about college coaches who love big guards that can shoot the ball and she definitely showed that on opening night. The pull-up is smooth, she showed it in the set as well as in transition but she also showed she could score off the dribble. She also defended as well as grabbed some rebounds
Cierra Hull-5'7 SG (United Township HS) Quad City Elite 2024
Hull showed she could create her shot and knock it down with a hand in her face yet this Illinois "up and coming" star also understands something very important and that's how to get hers in the flow as well as "plays within herself" which in laymen's terms means she doesn't force anything and thinks the game but I think her first step gives her n advantage because it sets everything else up, she also defends
[player_tooltip player_id='480770' first='Katelyn' last='Davis']-5'8 PG (Choctaw HS) Oklahoma Huskies 2023 [2024]
Davis will probably circle back in another article or two because of a couple of very important things that I enjoy seeing. First of all, she creates her shot under pressure and the pull-up is smooth and consistent yet I overly enjoyed something more than the mid to long-range, her court vision and threading the needle in transition is huge because she has her head up and is constantly looking yet she also dd another thing I love seeing, plays the passing lane
Alaia Thomas-5'4 PG (Epic Charter School) Enid Lady Elite [2027]
Thomas goes hard off the dribble and that explosiveness in her first step caught my eye in passing so I returned and caught her showing range, very deep range, and with the mix of her being able to attack and finish, yes after contact, along with dropping the long ball, I kept watching and the midrange is solid, so is her "on the ball" defense but her upside really intriguing
