There were several new faces that I got to see over the weekend in Louisville who were definite GameChangers for their teams.
Ella Daniels, Kentucky ice 2023 Select
Was very impressed with what I saw from Ella, my first time to see her this spring. She is long and athletic who can run the floor and finish on the break. She showed good court vision and sees the floor well, finding her open teammates. Hoping to get to see her again before the end of the circuit season.
Rachel Shrompshire, Richmond Heat 2023
She is only a 2024 playing up with the older team, and that will definitely help her game continue to grow getting to play against the older girls every day. She showed me some good things for a young player, athletic, long and lanky where she is aggressive to the rim. She is disruptive with her length in the paint and showed some range to her game.
Maddy Hackman, IN Flight Sharks 2023
It was the first time I got to see this team, and they presented themselves very well over the weekend. The thing I liked about Maddy was her ability to let it fly from the perimeter without hesitation. She showed a good catch-and-shoot mentality with good range. She also has good court vision and distributes the ball well to her teammates.
Lexi Le, TC Elite 2024
Can play the 2/3 positions and has a bit of size for the guard spot. Possesses good on-ball defense and can rebound well in the paint against the bigger players. Showed the ability to get to the rim on occasion. A player with good potential and a solid all around game.
Maddie Nipper, IN Showcase 2024 Red
A player who handles the show well from the point guard spot. She has a good basketball IQ with a nice shot from the perimeter. Sees the floor well and defensively can play well on-ball. Has a good midrange game and is active in the offense.
Kiarra Loveless, Pocket City Basketball 2024
Solid player with good moves in the paint and can play around the rim. Also can step out and contribute from the perimeter. Has good footwork and moves well without the ball. Has two years to continue to improve at the prep level. (featured photo above)
Avery Patterson, IN Showcase 2023 Red
This southern Indiana kid does a nice job from the point guard spot, and has improved from last year to now. Her handles have gotten better and she is more effective in the offense. She can see the floor and is a gritty kid with a good jumper from the perimeter. (pictured left)
Abby Russell, OV Lady Dragons 2023 Grey
Part of a solid team, Abby is a strong physical kid who handles the guard spot well Impressed both Haleigh and myself with her ability to play a physical game, score at the rim and play through contact. She will get in the right spot and in position on the defensive side of the ball. Doesn’t give an inch on the court.
Annabelle Babb, Team Firstep 2024
Caught her game later on Sunday and thought she did some nice things from the combo guard spot. Able to score from deep with good handles and solid court vision. Can find her open teammate with a good basketball IQ. Moves well without the ball.
Lauren Bear, IN Showcase 2025
One of the younger players who stood out for the Showcase, she is a quick guard with a lot of bounce. A solid leftie with a nice shot, handles the ball well and plays good pressure on-ball defense. She has a quick first step to the rim and has the ability to score in bunches.
