A week and a half ago was the first “Live” weekend of the 2022 grassroots season in which Division-I schools are allowed to attend and evaluate, so travel teams and college coaches were out in full force across the country. I was able to catch some action at the Indy Clash in Indianapolis. Below is a look at five prospects who stood out to me with their play throughout the weekend.

– I first saw Evie during the Shamrock Classic, and she continues to impress this Spring. She has solid size, an athletic frame, and great length for her height. She is quick, fast, and athletic in most directions, and she seems to always play with a motor. She is an aware point guard, always playing with her head up, scanning the floor. She is also capable of making an open rhythm jumper, and she defends with effort.

– Thanks to a state title and open “live” periods again, college coaches (and the state) are starting to see what we first saw three years ago. Amber is a long, wiry-strong, bouncy, and skillful face-up ’4’ who can play just about anywhere on the floor. She is aggressive and much more physical than her frame might suggest, but she also has the skill and knowhow to play around the perimeter effectively, especially defensively.

– Avery is a tough-nosed point guard in the 2024 class, but what fascinates me the most is her ability to make dead-pivot moves (when players jump-stop in the lane and lose their dribble) and score against bigger prospects at her size. She does a nice job of using leverage and waiting until the defender is off-balance to find a crease and score around them. She has also consistently shot the ball from the perimeter.

, 2024, 5-9 SF/PG, West Lafayette H.S.
– I had seen Adrianne on video a number of times in the past, but this Spring has been my first opportunity to see her in-person, and she has some intriguing traits. She is a really nice, well-rounded athlete, she has an athletic to strong frame, and she has some length. She can handle the ball in transition and create offense for herself or others, she can knock down shots, and she plays with versatility at the defensive end.
Brooklyn Renn, 2026, 6-0 PF, Silver Creek H.S.
– Brooklyn has a great deal of upside, and she’s just starting to scratch the surface. She is extremely long, wiry, and fairly fluid athletically. She runs the floor well, and she has solid hands and can finish in transition. She tries to play the “right” way and be physical, but she’ll need to finish growing first and add some strength to her frame. However, she’ll likely play more outside, as she already has solid skill facing the basket.
