It was the second Triumph Region event this Circuit that has been held in the Volunteer State. Emanating from TOA Sports Performance Center, it welcomed teams from not only its home state but also Ohio, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Kentucky.
One may have seen our selections for all-tournament first team among the many of talented 17U teams that were on hand. Without further adieu, here is what our list for 17U All-Tournament Second Team resembles.
Jaida Cameron Jaida Cameron 5'7" | PG Legacy Early College | 2024 State SC – 2024 – Trinity Collegiate School – Bounce Nation FBC 2023 Jay – Cameron may be exiting her sophomore season with Trinity Collegiate, but she has the honor of playing in class. She is a fearless rim attacker and knows how to increase her team’s offensive output. As effective as she is a scorer, she is also effector of the distributor of the basketball. As difficult as she is to contain, she can even be moreso if she gets the hot hand and leads her team to a run. Rebounding is another signature element of her game. She had a 12-point performance when her team defeated ABC Lightning Performance 2023 with the final being 60-54.
Camryn Berry Camryn Berry 5'10" | PG Luella | 2023 State GA – 2023 – Luella HS – Bounce Nation FBC 2023 Jay – Berry is a name that gets bandied about Georgia high school sports circles in part for her stellar play and in part for the team she is on as the Lions made a run to the 4A GHSA state championship game. She stands at 5-foot-10 and while she has the height of a frontcourt five or four will primarily play in the backcourt. She bolsters a team’s 3-point shooting and ball movement. Berry will corral a number of steals and can make things difficult for opposing offenses. She had a 16-point outing in the 60-54 win over ABC Lightning Performance on Saturday.
Alana Zarneke – 2023 – Kaukauna HS – Wisconsin Blaze 2023 Inferno – From a wins and loss perspective, Zarneke proved to be greatly responsible for why the Galloping Ghosts managed a 2021-22 that was the best season, record wise, for the program since 2008-09. One of two on this year’s AAU team roster at least six feet, she scored the first points of a contest with Georgia Dominance 2023 and grabbed rebounds throughout. Zarneke also let everyone know that she will attack the rim and bring a fearless demeanor every time she steps on the court. She will dribble and finish as well with the left hand. Zarneke holds offers from Florida Southern, Bemidji State and St. Cloud State.
Staci Williams Staci Williams 5'7" | PG Holly Springs | 2023 State NC – 2023 – Holly Springs HS – ABC Lightning Performance 2023 – Williams has to feel like she is stepping onto the court in the high school league realm when she plays travel ball given four other Golden Hawks are on the team coached by her father Gary Williams. She provides a 3-point shooting element to any team’s offense she is on. Williams will receive a great deal of playing time and displays impressive court vision. She is also unafraid of a bit of contact and finding her way at the free throw line. Williams had a 17-point showing in a Saturday contest with Bounce Nation FBC 2023 Jay.
Atyia Moss – 2023 – Clarksville Academy – Tennessee Sol 2023 Blue – Moss was at the center of another great season for the Cougars as they went 20-11 in 2021-22. She is listed at 5-foot-8 and knows when to pass and when to score. A 3-point jumper is part of Moss’ overall offensive arsenal. Moss will also have no problems driving to the basket and is willing to absorb contact and take her chances at the free throw line. She takes care of the basketball and improves a team’s fortunes with rebounding as well. She is a tough defender who can also steal the ball and block shots.
