New Heights 2023: Top Performers at Spooky Nook

New Heights is one of if not the strongest AAU teams in New York and they proved it going 4-0 at Spooky Nook! <img class=" wp-image-422707 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/05/DSC_0971.jpg" alt="" width="159" height="239" />[player_tooltip player_id="406493" first="Angelica" last="Velez"] ’23 | New Heights | 5-7 | PG <span style="font-weight: 400;">Velez is a very smart basketball player. The way she was able to control the game was eye opening and her ability to be consistent on both ends of the floor makes her very hard to miss. She moves her feet on defense, doesn't use her hands or let her defenders go by her. She stays low while having her hands up and remains active while talking with her teammates during live action. On top of that, she controls the speed of the game on the offensive end. Velez is definitely one of the more fluid players I have watched before: she moves so well and she takes care of the ball. She keeps her playstyle simple yet very effective. If she gets the ball in the paint or if she sets a screen for one of her guards and rolls to the basket, your defense better be perfect. Del Rosario is amazing at drawing contact and still finishing the play. She is always involved in the game on and off the court. I love that she was loud and energetic no matter what. She has a positive energy that rubs off on the rest of the team. What is special about Battle is that she will rush down to go fight bigger girls in the paint more than any other point guard you watch.</span> <span style="font-size: 1rem;"><img class="wp-image-422712 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/05/DSC_0977.jpg" alt="" width="140" height="210" />[player_tooltip player_id="406494" first="Grace" last="Sundback"] ’23 | 5’10" | SG </span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Sundback is a key factor of the New Heights team. She is their shooter that they rely on and is an active player on defense. Along with having the talent she is a vocal leader on the court, communicating well with her teammates. She is a guard you can have full confidence in as she will stay consistent the entire game. </span>
