No. 55: Olivia Aliotta Olivia Aliotta 5'11" | PG Kinnelon | 2023 State NJ – 5-11 PG, Kinnelon
Ailotta’s listed position definitely will throw some people off as she tends to play much more like a small forward or shooting guard for Kinnelon. While she can handle the ball well, looking at the start of her season, this is player that can easily average a double-double and score 15 points a game. The three-point shooting is just a welcomed addition to her overall play style, but it’s also an x-factor that makes her an intriguing candidate to watch going into next season.
No. 61: Amanda Tuohy Amanda Tuohy SF Boonton | 2023 State NJ – SF, Boonton
Tuohy has shown steady growth over her first three seasons at Boonton, averaging career-highs across the board as a junior. Her three-point shooting has not just increased, but improved tremendously. Her interior defense is now a viable and effective part of her game that she’s leaning more into. Tuohy is even showing more of an ability to pass, which allows her to spread the floor more. Those are the key components that will make the most difference in her overall game.
No. 67: Faith Tucker Faith Tucker 5'9" | SG Pequannock | 2023 State NJ – 5-9 SG, Pequannock
For those just looking at the statistics, they might be put off by Tucker’s decrease in blocks per game as a junior. What they might not realize, other than the fact that Tucker is not playing a prime position for shot-blocking, is that her three-point shooting output doubled in threes per game from the Covid-shortened spring season. We also saw an increase in assists per game and steals per game, showing that Tucker is improving in other aspects as a player, rounding her game out and becoming more balanced and more multi-dimensional.
No. 45: Sydney Jenisch Sydney Jenisch 5'8" | PG Randolph | 2023 State NJ – 5-8 PG, Randolph
You see it many times across sport where players who have ridden the bench, will produce more with more playing time. Such is the case with Jenisch, who ran the point for Randolph this season and did a fantastic job at it. Her three-point production has stayed steady, which is promising and her overall ability to get to the basket has evolved and developed exponentially. Having that added assurance of playing every day benefitted her big time.
No. 38: Annie Ryan Annie Ryan 5'8" | SG Westfield | 2023 State NJ – SG, Westfield
I’m very high on Westfield after the program captured its first state title, and for good reason as Ryan is a key cog to making this machine run smoothly. The key for her is getting her three-point shooting going. That’s what makes Ryan so effective is that if she can knock down her shots, she opens up the floor for the rest of the Blue Devils. She knocked down 1.6 threes a game as a junior and will undoubtedly see those numbers increase for next season.
