Tomorrow I will release my 2023 all-tournament team, and later this week, a look at a few of the teams who performed well along with a story on some of the top new faces I got to see this weekend.
Jim’s Day 2 Standouts
Megan Czarnecki, IN Showcase 2023 Select
Got to see her Sunday and was impressed with how well she can play the game in multiple ways. At 6’1, she can guard the perimeter well on defense She was here last year and has shown a lot of improvement in all aspects. She plays hard and doesn’t take a play off. Finishes well at the rim and has a decent midrange game. Needs to work on her perimeter offensive game.
Hadyn Bailey, OV Lady Dragons 2023 Grey
She impressed me again with her ability to handle the game from the point guard spot. She is a smart, heady guard with good speed and a nose for the ball. She has a good motor and solid handles. She runs the offense well and can pressure her opponent well from her guard spot. Continuing to improve. (pictured left)
Hazley Matthews, OV Lady Dragons 2023 Grey
She is a player who I saw a few years ago and her game has improved to where she is a big threat on both sides of the ball. She can score from the perimeter and make the right play. Has a good step to the rim and is a confident player. Can defend multiple positions. (feature photo above)
Haleigh Crum, OV Lady Dragons 2024 Red
I saw her in their game vs Team Firstep and saw some great court vision for the 5’10 guard. She can get the ball and push in transition with a good outlet pass, and helps her team create on offense. Defensively, Haleigh will get pressure and steals with good handles and a good basketball IQ.
Shar’on Tidwell, Firststep 2024
The first thing that stood out to me was her incredible athleticism on both ends of the floor. She has good handles and creates well with the ability to control the offense. She has a high motor and has an explosive step to get to the rim. Her speed allows her to run down her defender and create turnovers.
