Below are more Atlantic City standouts from across New England and New York

[player_tooltip player_id="413875" first="Nevaeh" last="Wingate"]|NY Royals|6’1’’|SF|’23

Wingate made plays in Atlantic City that made your jaws drop. At 6’1’’, Wingate runs the floor like a gazelle, can switch out and defend the perimeter, drop and alter shots at the rim, and has a soft shooting touch from the mid-range. The way Wingate could impact both sides of the floor was impressive, and she was doing so against some of the toughest competition in Atlantic City. The Royals were playing without star ’25 wing [player_tooltip player_id="413880" first="Madison" last="Francis"], so the spotlight was on Wingate more, and she delivered. Last weekend, I watched the Royals a couple of times, and Wingate was the most impactful wing representing New York. She is a player who should be on everyone’s radar as we head into summer.

[player_tooltip player_id="392972" first="Eveani" last="Okwuosa"]|CBC|5’9’’|SF|’23

[caption id="attachment_436151" align="alignnone" width="300"] Photo: [player_tooltip player_id="355399" first="Anna" last="Kitch"][/caption]

If Okwuosa is guarding you, the chances are high that you are not scoring. The lateral quickness she possesses is eye-opening, and I didn’t see one ball-handler have any luck penetrating the lane. Okwuosa will pick anyone up the length of the court and kill the opposition’s offensive rhythm by making her assignment extremely uncomfortable. She has the size to defend the 1-3 and can completely erase them from the game.

[player_tooltip player_id="322472" first="Claudia" last="Schneider"]|CBC|6’0’’|SG|’23

Schneider was one of the biggest New England stock risers from Atlantic City because of her versatility. She gives CBC a little bit of everything at a high level. Defensively, she will defend anyone. Schneider showed the foot speed to cut off driving angles if she switches out on a guard. She uses her size and length to alter shots and finish the play with a rebound when defending down low. On offense, I liked Schneider’s discipline. She is an efficient, under-control shooter who can score off the catch and dribble. Schneider also runs the floor hard and is a solid playmaker in the open court.

[player_tooltip player_id="436155" first="Pauline" last="Vlahakis"]|CBC|6’4’’|PF|’24

[caption id="attachment_436157" align="alignnone" width="300"] Photo: [player_tooltip player_id="355399" first="Anna" last="Kitch"][/caption]

At 6’4’’, many would think Vlahkis is a traditional back-to-the-basket forward, but she is valuable playing inside and out. Watching Vlahakis operate in the high post was a thing of beauty. She can consistently hit jump shots, pass and be a playmaker from that area. I like how you can run the defense through Vlahakis and trust that she will make a good decision with the ball. Her soft touch around the rim and frame makes her a significant threat down low and a double-double nightmare.

[player_tooltip player_id="413878" first="Amarah" last="Streiff"]|NY Royals|5’10’’|SF|’23

Streiff played solid, consistent basketball throughout the AC Showcase and was a valuable combo forward for the Royals. She doesn’t have the height as other power forwards, but she is equally as tough, if not tougher than them. Streiff battled hard underneath and is a beast on the boards, not afraid to be physical amongst the trees. Her mid-range game is something I also noticed. She is confident from that range and is a good shot creator from the high post.

[player_tooltip player_id="315378" first="Addisen" last="Sulikowski"]|Maine Attraction|5’10’’|SG|’24

The bigger the stage, the better Sulikowski plays. She always elevates her game against the top competition and did so again in Atlantic City. In the ’24 class, there aren’t many who shoot perimeter shots confidently and heat up like Sulikowski. Once she gets one three-pointer to fall, you can expect 3-4 more to follow. No matter how aggressive the defense contests her shot, she has the size and release to shoot and convert over the top of anyone.

[player_tooltip player_id="413759" first="Christina" last="Psarros"]|Empire State Basketball|6’1’’|PF|’25

[caption id="attachment_436168" align="alignnone" width="300"] Photo: [player_tooltip player_id="355399" first="Anna" last="Kitch"][/caption]

Two plays stuck out to me that Psarros made, and that was enough for me to be a fan of her game. The first was an offensive rebound putback early in the game. Her instincts reading the ball off the rim and quick first jump was impressive, and Psarros took advantage of her size around the basket all game long. I also liked Psarros’ confidence in handling the basketball and having the footwork from the high post. She was under control and patient with her shot-creating and used her body well to draw fouls.

[player_tooltip player_id="263944" first="Kaleigh" last="Valle"]|RI Basketball Club|5’6’’|CG|’23

What I’m about to say might sound crazy, but Valle shot release looks quicker. Already known to be one of the most lethal shooters in ’23, Valle was ripping threes at a frequent rate down in Atlantic City. As soon as the ball touched her fingertips, it was up in the air. Overall, Valle is making quicker decisions with the ball. Whether it be catch and shoot jumpers or penetrating, she puts pressure on the defense and scoring in multiple ways.

[player_tooltip player_id="298650" first="Lily" last="Singer"]| Honey Badgers|5’10’’|SF|’25

I haven’t seen Singer play in some time so it was nice to be on the baseline of one of her games. I’ve always liked her size and athleticism on the wing. She is a good slasher on the wing and an effective scorer off the dribble. I liked her explosion and power when Singer turned the corner on the defense, and she did not have trouble getting to her spots on the floor.
