The Class of 2022 has a strong presence of perimeter players, both at the point and on the wing. As far as lead guards go, our Top-250 is home to 55 of them, making up 22.0% of all 2022 prospects ranked in Indiana. It is their job to take care of the ball and initiate the offense, but this class specifically has several talented playmakers, and a number of young ladies who can put the ball in the basket from just about anywhere. Below is a look at those 55 prospects, as well as some added information and analysis on a handful of girls who have stood out since our last rankings update in January.

– Maddy had a fantastic career for the Pioneers, and she is a lead-by-example point guard who always competes at both ends of the floor. Her toughness and leadership helped them to a Class 4A South Semi-State run that included upsets of Brownsburg, North Central (Indianapolis), and Ben Davis along the way. She is a traditional point guard who finds teammates on-time/on-target, but she can also get to the rim or knock down open shots consistently. I also love her quickness and grit defensively.

, 2022, 5-7 CG, East Central H.S.
– Hope had a fine career at East Central, hitting the 1000-point mark in the Sectional championship game. She was strong down the stretch, averaging 18.3 points and 7.0 rebounds during their Sectional title run, and she earned her way onto the Indiana All-Star team with a good Senior season, a nice career, and a strong showing at the Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top-60 showcase. She is all-around solid at both ends of the floor, and she will head to Division-II Southern Connecticut State University in the Fall.

, 2022, 5-6 PG, Evansville North H.S.
– Jaidn really emerged as a Junior at North, going from limited minutes as a Sophomore, to one of their leading scorers the last two seasons. She has nice length, speed and quickness, and she plays with a motor. She is probably best attacking the basket and creating for herself or others, but she did shoot 35% from 3-point range for her career. Defensively, she does a nice job of using her length at the front of their press, and she can defend the ball 84-feet. She will play at Saint Xavier University next year.

, 2022, 5-8 PG, South Bend St. Joseph H.S.
– Kelly put together a nice grassroots season in 2021, and she turned that into a great Senior year, averaging 23.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game. She has a strong frame, good length, and she plays at an even pace. She kind of has an “old school”, traditional point guard feel for the game, often using her body to protect the basketball. But you aren’t going to get her out of her comfort zone often, and she’ll attack when she has an advantage. She is headed to Division I Loyola University Maryland.

South Central (Union Mills) | 2022
State
IN
, 2022, 5-8 CG, South Central H.S. (Union Mills)
– Abigail was an instant contributor her Freshman year, nearly averaging 10.0 points per game (9.8) out of the gate, so her 16.2 average this year was no surprise. But she also collected a ton of steals in four years, handed out a number of assists, and she rebounded her position fairly well. She is a strong, physical guard who can attack downhill or knock down shots outside. She can play off the ball because of her size and strength, and she plays with a lot of grit and toughness. She could help IU-Northwest immediately next season.
