That event is the Triumph Region Finals, set to emanate from the Upward Stars Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina, is set to determine champions for all four classes. A grand total of over 50 teams across classes and from a number of states – including the home state of South Carolina as well as Georgia, Florida, Alabama and others are set to take part.
Without further adieu, here are five 16U players to watch as play is set to commence on Saturday from the Palmetto State.
Caroline Mullins Caroline Mullins 5'9" | CG Pickens | 2024 State GA – 2024 – Pickens HS – Wood Elite 2024 – Mullins has had herself banner performances on the Circuit as she has shined at both Knoxville Knockout as well as Peach Games. She stands at 5-foot-9 and among her wide skillset is the ability to get from one end of the floor to the other with the ball in her hands. Mullins can finish with her right hand after handling the ball with her left. A 3-point shot is also part of her offensive arsenal. Mullins has proven herself to be a valuable player on both the travel and high school realms as she was a major reason why the Dragons finished with a 26-4 record and a berth in the GHSA 4A state semifinals.
Shyrique Parker Shyrique Parker 5'11" | SF Blacksburg | 2024 State SC – 2024 – Dorman HS – FCA Eagles 2024 – Parker has played the last two high school seasons with the Gaffney Indians, first as part of their junior varsity team then to the varsity team this past season. A force to be reckoned with for any team’s frontcourt, she is a double-double possibility on a game-by-game basis as she will haul in rebounds on either the offensive or defensive glass. Parker displays how versatile she can be with her ability to knock down long range jumpers and can handle the ball as if she were a guard. She averaged 16 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.2 steals in 2021-22 for Gaffney.
Caroline Wagner Caroline Wagner 6'1" | C Cherokee | 2025 GA – 2025 – Cherokee HS – Georgia Flames 2025 – Wagner had a stellar outing for a Georgia Flames 2025 team that finished 4-0 for Southeast Slam in Daytona Beach, Florida. She is listed at 6-foot-1 and is a big that is not easy for opposing teams and coaches to keep in check. Her work in the low post is not only limited to putting points on the board as she will haul in rebounds and will create spacing near the rim to increase her playmaking abilities. Wagner may play on a 15U team, but she and her Georgia Flames teammates have proven that they belong on the same court with 2024 squads.
Tamya Hutchinson Tamya Hutchinson 5'4" | PG Hilton Head Christian | 2024 State SC – 2024 – Hilton Head Christian Academy – H2 Lowco 2024 – The year 2022 has been very kind to Hutchinson so far. She led the Eagles to its fourth consecutive SCISA 2A state championship and has brought her outstanding play to the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit with her travel team. She is an at-will scorer and also has rebounding capabilities as part of her overall game. Hutchinson keeps her hands active and has a knack for attacking the basket. On plenty of occasions, she will draw contact and make her attempts from the free throw line. The big things she does can appear on a scoresheet, but she also does those that do not always appear such as hustling for loose balls.
Stephanie Vega Stephanie Vega 5'7" | SF Somerset Silver Palms | 2026 State FL – 2026 – Somerset Silver Palms – Miami Impact 2025 – The South Florida-based travel team has also established itself as one of the premier squads on the Circuit, particularly after stellar performances at the Triumph Region Kickoff, The Exclusive and Southeast Slam. Vega is a very accurate shooter from behind the 3-point line and she also possesses plenty of skill as a shot blocker. As great of a floor runner as Vega is and as consistent a threat she is to steal the ball, she is particularly impressive in the transition game. She is a name surely to rise up Florida’s high school basketball ranks as her career flourishes.
