Kania Chambers 2025 Woodlands High School (Elite 365 Red)
Kania is a consistent finisher down low, who specializes at turning the corner on her on ball defender and getting into the paint. Her ability to slash and draw multiple defenders makes her an aware combo guard prospect, and how she fills it up from the midrange should indicate she has some real scoring talent in her. She is an aggressive player on both ends of the court, mainly on the offensive side of things, chasing down her own rebound on a shot she knows she missed short and outworking her opponents every time she stepped on the court. I was very impressed at her motor and willingness to do all of the little things well, like rebound the ball and create opportunities for her team. I loved watching her manipulate the defense with her point guard instincts and how well she was able to initiate offense for her teammates, both in the full court and the half court. She routinely made the right pass, and loved finding her streaking teammates with the home run pass over the top. I would like to see her work on getting her handle tighter and lower, as well as hunting for her shot a bit more across the midrange.
Karina Smith 2025 Spring High School (League City Sharks)
Karina is an intelligent combo guard with her ability to play off the ball and make her defender pay for turning their back on her, constantly cutting backdoor and running the baseline for open shot opportunities. She clearly has played the true point guard role before, constantly making picture perfect passes after drawing the defense in. She had a few plays where she made high level passes, even after leaving her feet to take a shot in the paint. When running the court with a live dribble, she seems to have eyes in the back of her head with the way she manipulated her opponents, crossing them over or going behind the back to keep them off balance. On the defensive side of things, she is an aggressive on ball defender paired well with her active hands. She made life very difficult for opposing ball handlers, picking them up as soon as they were at the three point line and forcing them to do something else with it. I would like to see her work on her ability to get off her own shot in the midrange, she is constantly flying by her opponents, but could easily develop stopping on a dime and taking a high percentage midrange shot opportunity.
Ari Myles 2025 A&M Consolidated High School (College Station Elite)
Ari is an incredibly scrappy on ball defender, with great length and ability to move her feet. I loved her aggressiveness and willingness to take on the best player on the other side, no matter their size or position. Her willingness to hunt her opponent allowed the rest of her team to breathe a bit easier, knowing she was on the court. Her presence also raised the intensity of her teammates, seeming to make them defend across the board a bit harder. On the offensive end of things, she attacks the rim and loves getting into the paint. Her aggressiveness bleeds through into her offensive game, constantly attacking the basket and subsequently living at the free throw line. I would like to see her work on tightening up her shot mechanics, her release point is a bit low at the moment and could easily shoot over the top of her opponents with how high she is able to leap.
Saleen Longoria 2025 Victoria East High School (Next Level)
Saleen is an impressive combo guard with the ability to affect the game on both ends of the court using her incredible court awareness on both ends of the court. On the offensive end of the court, she can play on or off the ball. She constantly moves without the ball and fills into space on the perimeter and in the midrange whenever she sees fit. She is a sniper when she gets an opportunity to set her feet and catch and shoot from the wings. She is a real weapon on the perimeter, using her quickness to get around her opponents and into the teeth of the defense. I was not surprised to see she also runs track for her school! With the ball in the hands she is a complete threat to score from beyond the arc, take her opponent off the bounce or create a shot opportunity with the attention she draws. She made incredibly aware cross court passes to find the open teammate on the back side of the play. Defensively, she has very active hands that always seem to be poking the ball free and allowing her team to run in transition. She loves running the fast break, constantly going coast to coast after ripping the ball from her opponent. Over the two games I saw her play, she had 10 steals and just under 30 points!
Mya Turner 2025 A&M Consolidated High School (College Station Elite)
Mya is a high level guard who dominated the game using her speed and aggressiveness to get around her opponents. She has natural point guard instincts with her ability to create for her teammates using her passes. She routinely turned the corner on her opponents with her quickness with a live dribble. She showed a real ability to go coast to coast, even after grabbing a rebound herself and finishing in transition. She displayed good touch from the outside when given time to set her feet and shoot, but I would like to see her work on getting to her shot off the dribble, especially in the midrange. I would like to see her work on her decision making when trapped, at times she dribbled into two defenders and allowed herself to get cut off with the sideline acting as a second defender as well. I would also like to see her work on keeping her dribble as low as possible as she can maintain control.
