Basketball players from Michigan have been all over the midwest playing in grassroots events and showing exactly why college coaches are keeping a close eye on athletes from the state. There’ve been prospects at all levels playing terrific basketball. Let’s take a look at some of the recent star performances at different grassroots events.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="419543" first="Mia" last="Bazzi"] (2025, CG, MI Factory 2025, Wayne Memorial)</strong>
A star guard coming out of Wayne Memorial and MI Factory? Forgive me if I’m not surprised. Bazzi showed off her elite 3 point shooting over the weekend. She even finished in second place in the Run 4 The Roses 3 point contest
<strong>Cece Bonner (2026, PG, MBA 2026 UA Future, Muskegon)</strong>
Bonner showed some old fashioned bucket getter ability over the weekend. She was speedy and creative in the open floor. Bonner played with a lot of control when the ball was in her hands.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="422004" first="Rylie" last="Burley"] (2025, PG, The Naturals 2025, Leslie)</strong>
Burley continued her solid grassroots season at the Sneaker Wars. She controlled the offense and was looked to as a primary scoring option. Her weekend was highlighted by a 16 point performance.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="280875" first="Tianna" last="Daye"] (2023, PG, West Michigan Drive 2023, East Kentwood)</strong>
Daye was so solid over the weekend. She was named to the USJN All-Star Team. Daye consistently touched all corners of the stat sheet, doing a terrific job of reading the game and finding where her team needed her to contribute.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="244305" first="Hailey" last="Freshcorn"] (2024, PG, MSF Flight 2024, Onsted)</strong>
Freshcorn has had one of the more impressive grassroots seasons in the state. As usual, she was both a scorer and facilitator at the PGH 2K22. Freshcorn grooved her jumper at the event making it look pure and come off her hand with confidence.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="244746" first="Lila" last="Hoisington"] (2024, SF, MBA UA Rise 2024, Morley Stanwood)</strong>
Hoisington played some really good basketball in the first UA Rise Session 1. She had an impressive 16 point game and was a key to her team’s 2-0 start.
<strong>Jocelyn Koto (2025, SG, The Naturals 2025, St. Johns)</strong>
Koto is a new name to our coverage, but she’s now on the map thanks to her performance at the Sneaker Wars. In one game she came a point shy of a double-double finishing with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="424151" first="Autumn" last="Reed"] (2025, SG, Tri-County Hoopers 2025, Utica Eisenhower)</strong>
Reed showed out at the USJN Premier Showcase. She showed the she can attack offensively in a variety of ways and can match up defensively with multiple types of offensive players.
