Here’s who caught my eye this summer and balled out.
I’ll start with the breakdown of 2022 All-League Team
Breckyn Schilling Breckyn Schilling 5'11" | SF North Mahaska | 2025 State IA – North Mahaska – MVP – Top Scorer – Breckyn’s game is solid all around. She was a little gun shy the first game with a limited roster and struggled to score or run the offense. By the end of the summer, she really turned it on with some strong performances. She will take you to the hoop with her strong finish game or hit a three from deep. Tight handles and will run the show for North Mahaska this year with older sister gone to DMACC. Schilling averaged 16.0 points a game in 6 games.
Bailey Strovers – Grinnell – Strover is a raw talent that has a lot of potential. She is a strong hybrid wing who can score at all levels. When she gets going from three she is a handful. Play to close she just will bully by for the layup. Look for her to have a breakout year this year for Grinnell. Efficient rebounder who can grab the ball and go.
Haidyn Hull Haidyn Hull 5'9" | SG Grinnell | 2023 State IA – Grinnell – Everyone knows the girl can shoot it from distance. What I enjoyed watching was Haidyn’s tough-to-the-rim game she has developed over the summer at top64. When she gets to the rim and finishes or creates Grinnell has so many weapons around her it’s hard to double. The Deadly sniper really played defense with tenacity and looks to have a breakout senior year with a rebuilt Grinnell squad.
Abby Warner – Pella – Strong hybrid type player with aggressive rebounding skills. She is so tough once she catches the ball. Averaged 13.5 points in 4 games but could have had a lot more. It was so much fun watching the Pella kids coach and run their own teams with help from the coaches.
Mia Warner – Pella – Another Warner is double the trouble for a loaded Pella group. Mia averaged 12 points in 4 games. and plays a very strong inside-outside game. Plays defense hard and rebounds the ball really well.
Kennedy Van Vark Kennedy Van Vark 5'5" | PG Pella | 2024 IA – Pella – Van Vark was consistently pushing the pace and feeding her bigs. Spot up shooter who can knock it down or take it to the rim with her strong ball handling. Averaged 13 in 5 games.
Camdyn Crouse – Ottumwa – Shooter when she gets going. Camdyn is a hard-nosed defender who lit up a few teams. She led her young group against some talented teams. pushed the pace and really got hot from three a few games. She averaged 12.5 in 6 games
Mia Boulton Mia Boulton 5'3" | SG Montezuma | 2023 State IA – Montezuma – Boulton’s are known as shooters. Mia is the leader of a very solid group of scorers. She showed me her ability to lead a run not only her school team but a very talented 212 group on the circuit as well all summer. Don’t leave Mia open. Great ball handling ability and defends bigger guards extremely well. A polished game like her mom for sure.
