Century High School:
When it comes to High School Girls Basketball in North Dakota there is no doubt one program has proven to be dominate…..the Century Patriots. The team has been blessed with many talented players over the last few years which has contributed to 7 State Championships and 13 WDA Championships. Needless to say, one would consider them a “Dynasty” in the North Dakota. Last year the Patriots came into the State Tournament with the pedal to the floorboard looking to capture another title. Unfortunately, their 50+ game win streak came to an end with a loss to a tough Minot team in the Championship game, a great game that will be talked about for quite sometime. This coming year, you can believe they will be coming back looking for another title shot, and their squad is ready to battle.
Coming back for her final year is 6′ G/F, Logan Nissley Logan Nissley 6'0" | CG Bismarck Century | 2023 State ND . Logan has a resume that is nothing short of impressive, and she is one of the most highly recruited players to come out of North Dakota. Last year the WDA All-Conference,1st Team All-Stater and Gatorade POY surpassed 1000pts, averaged 21.4ppg, 9.9rpg and shot a staggering 54.6% from the field. When it comes to Basketball she can do it all, and do it well. She is a deadly shooter, sees the court incredibly well and is a pure leader on the floor. When you watch her she is confident and skillful and packed with talent that can strike from all angles on the court. She will be coming back for her final season with Century, and you can believe she will do all she can to make it a memorable one.
Another outstanding player returning is 5’11 Senior G, Bergan Kinnebrew Bergan Kinnebrew 5'11" | CG Bismarck Century | 2023 State ND . The All-Conference, 1st team All-Stater is nothing short of a true baller and hard-worker. Like I’ve said before, Bergan is skilled in so many areas, and has a game that has been fine tuned by endless hours in the gym, and it shows. Last year Bergan averaged 17.8ppg, 6.2rpg, 51 steals and shot 48% from the field. Those stats speak volumes about her work ethic and driven nature to be the great player she is. You can bet she is coming back hungrier then ever, and wants another title. She has D1/D2 athlete written all over her, whoever picks her up is going to be blessed with a great player and team leader. Both in which are qualities any coach loves to have.
Along side Nissley and Kinnebrew is 5’9 Junior Eden Fridley Eden Fridley 5'9" | CG Bismarck Century | 2024 State ND . Fridley is a proven guard who can put up points any night of the week and is a skillful playmaker. Last year she averaged 7ppg, 3.9rpg, and added 50 assists for the Patriots. Those numbers are only going to go up the next 2 years, along with her level of leadership. She will be a key player on the court this year, and she is not a player you want to back off on. Eden has a beautiful shot and knows how to use it well all around the hardwood.
Century also has a few younger players that saw some time on the court, and they will be seeing significant playing time this coming year. Sophomore 5’8 G, Zoie Austin Zoie Austin 5'7" | CG Bismarck Century | 2025 State ND the #4 player for 2025 is coming back, and will for sure turn some heads. Zoie averaged 5.1ppg, shot 42% from the field and 25% from behind the arc. She is an absolute nightmare as a defender, and pressures guards like nothing I’ve ever seen. I have a good feeling we will be hearing her name quite a bit this year.
Also new player Sophomore Ziah Greybull that transferred from Idaho will see some time on the floor. I’ve watched her play numerous times and this girl flat out has game. She is a 5’7 left handed guard that is very shifty, and has superior ball handling abilities, plus she can hit from all over the floor inside and out. 5’9 G Ashlyn Buchholz will also be stepping up big this year and doing what she does best. Ashlyn has great ball handling abilities and is a keen passer as well. I’ve seen this young lady many times over the past few years and she keeps getting better every time she’s on the court. Expect hear both of their names this year, both are very talented hardworking athletes.
Bismarck High School:
Coach Shetler and his Bismarck Demons will be looking to have another solid year in 22′-23. Last year the Demons went 19-6 overall and 15-3 in the WDA with a 4th place finish, and a respectable 5th place finish at State. The Demons will be coming back just as hot as they were last year, with a solid veteran roster filled with multiple players who know how to put up points all over the court, and defensively are tough to get bye. Let’s take a look at the 22-23 Demons!
5’10” Senior G Peyton Neumiller Peyton Neumiller 5'10" | SG Bismarck High | 2023 State ND will be leading the charge for BHS this coming year. Last year she was selected as a WDA All-Conference player, and you can expect the same this year. Neumiller is proficient player all around the court, she is listed as a guard but she is very versatile and has the ability to play any 1-5 position. Last year she put up some good numbers averaging 14.3ppg, 4.1rpg and was 2nd in the WDA in steals with 58/3.1spg and was #8 in scoring with 282pts. There is so many good things to say about Peyton and her skills on the court, she will be exciting to watch this year in her Senior year for the Demons.
5’6 Junior G Paige Breuer Paige Breuer 5'7" | CG Bismarck | 2024 State ND is very well balanced player who puts in a ton of time into perfecting her craft. When you watch her she is smooth, and knows what she is doing, and does it well. She’s coming into this year with 8ppg, 25assts, and 38% from the floor. She may not be the biggest scorer on the floor, but she is a big contributor on both sides. She has shown she can hit bigtime shots from deep, and torment guards defensively. She will be a big part of BHS’s team this year, and look for her to be a key playmaker, and fill the stat sheet up.
Jersey Berg Jersey Berg 5'11" | SF Bismarck | 2024 State ND is another familiar name in the WDA not only for Basketball but Softball as well. The 5’11 Junior Forward is another big piece to the puzzle Coach Shetler will be using every night. Jersey has a good height to her, and she knows how to use it inside and outside as well. She comes into the season shooting 40.7% from the field, 5.6pg and shot 32% from behind the arc. She has many good qualities to her, everything from dribbling, driving, crashing the boards to hitting three-pointers in transition. I can see her really having a break out this year for the Demons, she has a lot of upside to her game.
Ali Gulleson Ali Gulleson 5'6" | CG Bismarck High | 2023 State ND the 5’6 G will be returning for her Senior season and be another key player on her squad. Last year she averaged 7.3ppg, 3.6rpg, 33 assists and 26 steals. Ali is a hardworking competitive player on both ends of the court. Defensively she works hard at pressuring the ball and is known to create turnovers nightly. Offensively she showed last year she is efficient shooter inside and outside, and will crash the lane hard fighting for the ball, or looking for the soft touch off the glass. She has many good elements to her game, and will be very helpful to the Demons.
