Some of the best players in the state of Kansas, most effecient and consistent, check out who everyone will be looking out for this season.
Destiny Smith Destiny Smith 5'7" | CG Derby | 2024 State KS (Derby 2024)- With Destiny experience and talent level there’s no telling how high the ceiling is. After being a major contributor in the state run this past season, she will be looking to make that same run this upcoming season. The Derby guard is known for her elite scoring ability and handles. She has a change of pacer and shiftiness like none other. Her scoring ability isn’t just how she puts it in the hole but she’s able to do this because how she creates space from tough defenders. The older she gets you know she will only get better and become nearly unstoppable.
Valerie Norwood Valerie Norwood 5'7" | CG Wellington | 2025 State KS (Wellington 2025)- When you are thinking of a high IQ player with a good size and experience from previous years you have to mention Norwood name. Her IQ is what stands out to anyone watching and you don’t have to watch her for long to realize that. Valerie seems to know where to be at and when to be there. She has the ability to find that corner 3 and knock it down if she isn’t finishing at the rim from a steal off of the press. She’s a fierce defender on the wing or on the ball. Always getting deflections and steals, if not she’s for sure securing the rebound and starting the transition break.
Addyson Brown Addyson Brown 6'2" | PF Derby | 2023 State #44 Nation KS (Derby 2023)- Addy is the most well rounded player you will see. If you’re on the opposing team this isn’t a person you want to see matched up with you. What separates Brown from the rest of the girls is her versatility. Her ability to play multiple positions and guard multiple positions makes her really tough to contain and gameplay for. She can drop down and play the 2 really well or she can step up and play the 4 and 5 stretching the floor and beating bigs off the bounce. Recently committing to Iowa state university, she is poised to make a state run with her panther squad again and will be leading it averaging nearly a double double.
Sadie Spray Sadie Spray 5'8" | PG Great Bend | 2024 State KS (Great Bend 2024)- The great bend guard last name couldn’t be more fitting for her, “spray”. For the basketball junkies they know this term is for someone who can light it up with or without a defender on them and Sadie does just that. She has a set shot that she gets off anytime she wants. She reads the defense really well making backdoor cuts if teams are in a zone or in man which is rare for most players.
Grace Posch Grace Posch 5'7" | PG Hutchinson | 2025 State KS (Hutch 2025)- One of the most talented players in the state by far for many of reasons. Grace scores the ball In ways nobody could. Hitting multiple spin back shots even if she’s double team, or keeping her dribble alive and using a misdirection move to get away from the double team even in the corners to finish the lay up herself, she’s shown some pretty impressive moves last year and we can’t wait to see what this season will bring. Finishing with either hand around the rim, one in particular a left handed inside hand finish around 2 players not looking leaves you speechless as to how that got up there. But don’t take her lightly she doesn’t hide on the defensive end, when teams enter the ball to the post she’s looking to double down and steal it right away. She’s young with a lot of time to get better still.
