I will take a look at some of the top players from the Dayton, Ohio region over the next few days. Tonight, a look at the top 2023s.
Riley is one of the top post players in Ohio, and has a good complete game around the rim. She has battled injuries and is recovering to get ready for her senior season. She has played with the Ohio Elite throughout her career and looks to help lead her Cavaliers to the top of the MAC.
She is on pace to become the all-time three-point queen in the state of Ohio. Rylee is a deadly weapon from behind the arc, and it doesn’t matter where she shoots it from. Good handles and court vision, Rylee was first-team all-Ohio last season and looks to end her high school career in Dayton at the Final Four. Very good basketball IQ. 89 three’s from the state record.
She will join Rylee Sagester Rylee Sagester 5’6″ | CG Tri Village | 2023 State OH at Tri Village for one more season, making them one of the most talented duos in Ohio, regardless of class. Morgan can play multiple positions, handles the ball and can run the break in transition. Finishes well at the rim, strong kid who can rebound and push the outlet pass. Solid defender, athletic and agile.
When you watch her play, the first thing you notice is that she can drop the perimeter shots from all around the arc. Like Sagester, she can take a game over by getting on a run and can open the game margin quickly. Elite defender, can move well and guard on-ball very well. Active hands, can defend multiple positions. Still uncommitted, would be a strong asset with good knowledge of the game.
She was the best player I saw at the OGBR Top 64 earlier in the summer, Taylor is a true point guard, with a great passers mentality but can definitely do a lot of damage with her offense. Can penetrate and score against anyone, has good body control and can find the spot to make the right play. Uncommitted but a difference maker wherever she decides to go!
Raeven is one of the most athletic kids I have seen in a while. When I saw her as a freshman all I can remember is how well she played defense, which led to points for the Rams. Her game has improved to become a Valpo commit, and I expect her game to be taken to another level at the collegiate ranks. Smothering defender, makes things happen for her team.
The best returning player in the Miami Division of the MVL, Sami is still uncommitted and her game has become a lot better over the years. She commands the game well, great handles and is able to put the ball on the floor and play downhill well to the rim. Can score from the perimeter, very good midrange game and strong behind the arc. Natural leader.
While Sami is the leader in the Miami Division, Allie (feature photo above) is the best player in the Valley Division as she looks to lead Sidney to the title. Very strong and physical and can defend multiple positions. Good outside touch, good footwork around the rim. Vocal and a good leader, she is headed to Findlay after she graduates.
