I repeat that over and over for those who think they know yet with so many inaccurate evaluations being floated, always remember I know where the bar has been set, and I also know there is more to basketball than just scoring points. Why do I say that, it’s simple, I know tons of players that averaged, 30, 40, and even 50 PPG in high school that did absolutely nothing in college yet I also know several players that didn’t average double digits that would up being ALL-CONFERENCE PLAYERS, many at the D1 level, quite at BCS schools so who got better? They did
Macie Garcia Macie Garcia 5'5" Porter | 2024 TX – 5’6 SG (Porter) 2024
Garcia is heady, plays within herself, and understands something very important, how to get hers “in the flow”. Well, all the things I mentioned are very important in the scope of the game yet she does things that are valuable that might not show up on a score or stat sheet. She goes after loose balls, she fights through screens and she also falls into one of those “never takes a play off” types of players. Solid defender, she also scored off the dribble and showed the pull-up
Mila Rossini Mila Rossini 5'7" The Village School | 2024 State TX – 5’7 CG ( The Village) 2024
Rossini is “smooth as silk” with the ball and her ability to not get flustered under pressure always has me smiling. She sees the floor very well and makes the right decisions, especially in crunch time. She also did a good job seeing the floor in transition, well she keeps her head up when she dribbles, yet she also can take the defender all the way as well in transition. She creates her shot while tightly defended and she knocks down both the mid and long-range jumpers
Micah Walton Micah Walton 5'6" James Bowie | 2024 TX -5’6 CG (Bowie)
Walton has an explosive first step, both in transition and in the set, and when you factor in her SWB “speed with ball” and being able to stay under control, that’s always a big plus. She through darts in traffic, on the money, to give her teammates easy looks or she just kept it and used her athleticism coupled with “defying of gravity” aka body control, to score, many times after contact. She did a good job elevating over the defender and dropping the jumper and her “on the ball” defense was tough
Spirit Sheriff Spirit Sheriff 5'6" South Grand Prairie | 2025 TX – 5’6 PG (South Grand Prairie) 2025
Sheriff continues to elevate her game and since she’s had a growth spurt since I last saw her, her elevating off the ground for the jumper is even better. I love her unselfishness, she would rather set her teammates up for gimmes to get them going first, I get it because she can flat-out put up numbers. Her release is quick, yeah that stop and pop in transition was nice, and so were her off-balance finishes but she loves to defend, baseline to baseline
