One of those things is taking it to yet another level and from what I saw at the Alamo City Hoops I-35 Showdown, here are some of the players who have added even more and taken their games to yet another level
Mia Galbraith Mia Galbraith 5'10" | SG Lake Travis | 2023 State TX -5’10 SG/SF (Lake Travis)2023
Galbraith has always been able to shoot the ball, mid to long-range, off the screen, or create her shot under pressure. She falls into that ”big guard that can shoot“ Category yet her court vision, her being vocal on the court and team leadership all were on full display at the event
Jaida Gomez-5’7 SG (Pflugerville) 2023
Gomez has shown me time and time again that she is more than a long ball shooter yet I enjoy her dropping it from deep, with a hand in her face, as well in transition, her quick release makes the stop and pop in transition a thing of beauty, yet she also scores off the dribble and sees the floor
Cperritt Plummer-6’0 PF (Pflugerville) 2023
Plummer has unstopped plenty of drains, yeah I changed the spelling, but her unclogging the interior gives her new team, a new look that could translate into a solid run. She’s a force to be reckoned with on the inside, rebounds on both ends, and scores with players literally hanging on her, plus her defense is tough
Adyson James-6’0 PF (Steele) 2023
James is another unsung hero that JUST DOES IT every time she steps onto the court. First of all, she’s long and athletic, that’s the base, yet she turns up the treble, gets it, bass, to another level by showing good timing to block shots. Well she’s also a strong rebounder, on both ends and scores off the dribble and around the basket
Analia Cuellar-5’6 SG (Stevens) 2023
Cuellar can flat-out shoot it and I have personally seen her drop 5 three pointers in the final two minutes to win a game. I have also seen her drop close to double-digit deep ones yet her ball-handling, as well as court vision, was in full effect at the event, as well as her defense. Yes, she still dropped the 3, but midrange and attacking also got her baskets
Taylor Ross Taylor Ross 6'0" | PF Brennan | 2024 State TX -6’1 SF/C ( Brennan) 2024
Ross is no discount, again my play on word game is the best, yet don’t DISCOUNT what she brings to the table. Force to be reckoned with immediately pops into my head as she’s learning to dominate on the interior with strength, power, and desire to go after the ball off the rim. Her finishes also have been taken to another level
Kianna Wormley-5’9 SG/SF (Vista Ridge) 2025
Wormely is so athletic, she’s able to play the 2-4 effectively. She out-rebounds and scores over players standing over the magic number, which is 6’0 yet the magic don’t stop there. Her midrange jumper is solid, her deceptive first step coupled with her body control gives her acrobatic finishes but she can also drop it from deep. Throw in ” on the ball” defense and you’ll be hearing more on the UPDATE
