Friday, we updated our list for the Class of 2024. It was not time for expansion, as we remained at 175 total prospects. However, there are six newcomers to the list, due to a couple of girls not playing basketball in Indiana anymore, as well as these six young ladies really playing well over the past few months, earning their way onto the list. All six are now currently ranked within Prep Girls Hoops Indiana’s Class of 2024 Top-175 Rankings.
Not many people outside of Southwest Indiana know much about Arianna, because she’s a talented multisport athlete who doesn’t play grassroots basketball. But if you ever watch Vincennes Lincoln play, it’s easy to tell this kid can go. She has a fairly strong and athletic frame, she gets out and runs well in transition, and she can take on a variety of roles in the half-court. She doesn’t mind physicality, she’ll seek contact, and she can score it inside. But she’s also skilled and can handle and shoot it a little facing the basket.
When Brylee was entering high school, she looked to be one of the better 2024s in Indiana, let alone the Southwest portion of the state. Unfortunately, she has dealt with her share of injuries the past couple of years and missed a lot of time, but she is looking to have a strong, healthy season in 2022-2023. She has a solid/strong frame, length, and she plays with a motor. She has some guard skill (she can handle and shoot), plus she’s tough-nosed, physical, and can play some in the mid-post, or even post smaller defenders on the block.
Mackenzie popped up on my radar at the PGH Indiana Top-250 Expo back on September 10th, as she was outstanding that day. She has a fairly strong, athletic frame with solid length. She plays with a really nice motor, a quiet toughness, and she can do a variety of things on the floor. She is a capable ball-handler who can run/initiate the offense. She can also knock down an open rhythm jumper or attack the basket and score or create. Mackenzie can also defend multiple types of guards and smaller wing forwards.
Kaelyn is another prospect who earned her way onto the list by her play at the PGH Top-250 Expo earlier this month. She was likely going to be added during our next 2024 expansion in December, but she was so good that Saturday, I added her now. She has a wiry-strong frame, nice length, and she’s a good athlete in most directions. She handles the ball confidently, can make plays for herself or others, and she does so with effort. She knocks down open shots, but she doesn’t seem to force. Kaelyn is also a gritty/feisty defender.
Mya was a Lawrence Central kid as a Freshman, but she enrolled at Heritage Christian last Fall and has really taken off over the last 12-18 months. She has a long, wiry frame, she’s a fluid athlete, and she plays with nice quickness and pace. I think she has solid ball skill and the ability to play point guard, but she’s also programmed to shoot/score the ball, so she fills the 2-guard spot well also. She can get to the basket or knock down shots outside, plus she’s a versatile defender who can pick up most guards in the backcourt.
Alexis is a very active and energetic forward who is always flying around the court. She has really nice length, a wiry-strong frame, and she’s a nice North/South runner with some bounce. She loves to push the ball in transition, attack the basket downhill, but she can also knock down an open rhythm jumper from the perimeter. She rebounds her position fairly well and will pursue caroms outside of her area. I also like Alexis’ versatility defensive, as she can guard wings and some undersized power forwards/posts if necessary.
