At 8:00am it began with the Middle School girls which featured players from Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, of course Oklahoma, and even Colorado. These athletes participated in a skills session, competitive stations, and 5 on 5 scrimmages. The girls below showed a lot of effort, talent, and played some good basketball. Also, highlighted are their “super powers”, these are qualities that make them special and something unique they bring on the court.
Jensen Thrasher | PG / 5-5 | AAO Flight Elite | 2028
Jensen is a solid guard with loads of potential. She was the first player that stood out to me in the skills portion of the showcase. She is aggressive towards the rim and can play through contact. She has good footwork in the paint and finds ways to finish. She plays the game the right way and works hard. Defensively she is locked in playing with active hands, quick feet, and fights over screens. When the ball is in her hands, she doesn’t hesitate and looks to score, getting downhill to the basket or hitting the open shot. Jensen’s super power is her assertiveness.
Brooke Maupin | G / 5-5 | Argyle MS | 2027
Brooke is a guard that caught my eye early in the day. She seemed to be locked in mentally from start to finish and competed every moment she was on the court. She shot the ball pretty well with correct form and mechanics. Brooke is a smart player that doesn’t force the issue but values every possession. She finds the right shot for herself or others and when the lane opens, she doesn’t hesitate to drive to the basket. Defensively, Brooke is an active player, low in her stance and ready to work. Brooke’s super power is her shot-making ability and her high basketball IQ.
Addison Greeley | G / 5-6 | AAO Flight | 2028
Addison is a lengthy guard that is a rebounding machine. She has a good knack for where the ball is going to go when it is in the air. She gives 100 percent effort on the court. I caught her a few times huffing and puffing on a couple plays because she was going so hard. She uses her length mixed with quick hands to get steals, deflections, and rebounds. She pushes the ball and makes good decisions in transition including 1 handed cross-court passes to open teammates. Addison’s super power is her heart, hustle, and effort.
Kendi Spencer | G / 5-8 | Girls Only Club | 2028
Kendi is a big guard that brings value to her team. She works hard and gives a lot of effort. Kendi has good size and uses her body well. She runs the floor and scores well in transition. Defensively she is aggressive and can get down and guard the ball in the open court. She can also size up in the post and is a good rebounder. She has a lot of upsides to her game and if she continues to improve, she will have a promising future in basketball. Kendi’s super power is her competitive spirit.
