Continue ReadingI’m big on certain things and yeah, if I see bits and pieces of a player as I’m navigating around multiple courts at big events, one more time, I AM A REAL EVALUATOR, if I don’t have what I need, basically a non-erroneous roster, I keep it moving. Sometimes I miss players because they may be in foul trouble or in a different rotation, keep in mind if I know who you are, I don’t have to see you 10, 000 times and I know my cryptic logic will fly over the heads of many, one thing I tell clients is “quit trying to use log in illogical settings”.
Fast forward to the event, I have seen a few of these players, yet not a whole lot, but to say they showed me a whole lot, would be an understatement, so here are 8 that I hadn’t seen, or seen enough of that are on the verge of breaking out
Joi Chapple Joi Chapple 5'9" | SF Timber Creek | 2023 TX -5’9 SG (Timber Creek) 2023
Chapple gave me a lot to see off the top, starting with her athleticism, especially on the defensive end. Her turnaround jumper with a hand in her face “JUST DID IT” for me yet she also attacked the basket strongly, with either hand, and finished after contact using good body control. To add even more to her numerous pluses, she rebounded well on both ends
Lexi Hale Lexi Hale 5'7" | C Brookeland | 2023 TX -5’7 SG (Brookeland) 2023
Hale was more than a quiet storm as she found ways to “impress me” numerous times and let me start with her countless acrobatic finishes, I quit counting, yet she did it both smoothly and consistently. She also did a good job creating her shot under pressure and let me say this, the pressure was irrelevant because she knocked jumpers from midrange and rebounded
Aurora Hernandez Aurora Hernandez 5'8" | CG The Woodlands | 2024 TX -5’8 SG (The Woodlands) 2024
Hernandez is “long and athletic” and I call that the base, so her intangibles are abundant. She scores off the dribble by not only attacking with either hand but finishing with either. I wrote deep, so that means she dropped the long-range as well as the midrange, both in the set as well as in transition. Solid defense stood out, and so did her court vision as she made tough passes in traffic
Alexa Romero Alexa Romero 5'8" | SG Harlan | 2024 TX -5’8 SG (Harlan) 2024
Romero started off the event smoothly by playing within herself and getting hers in the flow yet as the games progressed, she finished by going completely off. I love to see players score “in droves” yet in the team concept and her not only creating her shot but also dropping it, mid to long-range while being heavily guarded had me smiling. She scored off the dribble and did what I love to see, “played the passing lane”
Krisi Willis Krisi Willis 5'6" | SG Timbercreek | 2025 TX – 5’6 SG (Timber Creek) 2025
Willis had me thinking “what your game talkin about Willis” after meeting her warming up. Well, she sent messages, not subliminal or telepathic, but on the court and that’s what I love seeing. She’s strong and attacks the basket powerfully, she rebounds with authority and scores on putbacks, against taller players. She did a good job creating her shot, knocked down the short jumper and she saw the floor
Londyn Perry Londyn Perry 5'6" Bishop Lynch | 2025 TX -5’6 CG (Bishop Lynch) 2025
Londyn’s bridge ain’t falling down as she showed me that she understands how to score multiple ways. I loved her dropping the jumper in transition, the stop and pop is hard to defend yet she also dropped the 3-ball with ease. She set the defender up with a deceptive first step which enabled her to get to the basket numerous times, and finish, and when you factor in her court vision for assists …
Kyla Williams Kyla Williams 5'6" | PG Red Oak | 2025 TX -5’6 CG (Red Oak) 2025
Williams’s pull-up jumper was her “go-to” and she went to it over and over, why not, it was effective. She understands how to create her shot yet she doesn’t take bad shots, which falls into “being heady” and getting yours “in the flow” . Her creativity also worked for her to get her separation from the defender, this enabled her to attack the basket from multiple angles
Aria Jones Aria Jones 5'6" | PG Clinton | 2026 MS -5’6 G (Summer Hill) 2026 MS
Jones dropped the “mic” because she was one of, if not the youngest players there, and she performed well against next-level players, as well as established high school players. She’s from Mississippi, she’s athletic and she gets #THROWBACK hashtag for diving on the floor numerous times for loose balls. She also played the passing lane, again I love that, and since she can handle the ball, that meant a basket going the other way. She scored off the dribble with ease and she dropped the jumper, HUGE UPSIDE
