The showcase started with a brief dynamic warm up then players were split up into groups for stations. Once players were split up into groups they competed in a series of competitive drills and progressed to 3 on 3 and eventually 5 on 5 games. The players listed below are players that stood out to me and made a lasting impact on the court.
Cammi Christie Cammi Christie 5'6" | CG Perryville | 2024 State AR | CG / 5-6 | Perryville HS | 2024
Cammi is a guard that displayed leadership qualities at the showcase. She communicates well with her teammates and makes sure everyone is on the same page. In the 1v1 stations she was really locked in and competed defensively. She takes care of the ball when handling it and is a willing passer. She has the ability to score in multiple ways, but puts her team first and gets them involved. When driving to the basket she is strong and finishes over opponents with her two-foot jump stop and uses her body to absorb contact. She stretches the floor and showed that she is a knock-down shooter from behind the arc. Cammi is a leader, she plays the right way, and I enjoyed watching her work this weekend.
Emerie Bohanon Emerie Bohanon 5'7" | CG Conway | 2025 State AR | CG / 2025 | Conway HS | 2025
Emerie is a smooth combo guard with handles that can mix it up and control the pace of a game. Her hesitation dribble keeps defenders on their heels and allows her to explode by them or raise up and shoot the ball in rhythm. In the open floor she is very effective and makes good decisions. She drives to the rim with a purpose and is strong to play through contact. She shoots the ball very well and if you are not up on her, she will shoot you out of the gym. However, if you player too close she will blow by you before you even know what happened. She is a complete player that plays with a lot of confidence, and showed that she is a top player in the class of 2025 in Arkansas let alone at the showcase. I could imagine that she is on the radar of many college coaches and if not, she needs to be because she is a special player.
Jada Maples Jada Maples 5'9" | CG Earle | 2026 State AR | CG / 5-8 | Earle HS | 2026
Jada is a long guard that plays under control and didn’t seem to be fazed by pressure. She has tools in her game to be flashy, but keeps it simple but effective. She plays with confidence and doesn’t hesitate when playing. Off the dribble she reads the defense well and has an old school 90’s type of game. If she is open on the wing she is ready and will shoot the ball quickly. And if the lane is open, she drives to the basket immediately. She can score in many different ways from the jump-stop floater in the lane, the pull-up jumper, and the 3-ball from down town. She is a smooth player that plays beyond her age and if she continues to work on her game, she will have a promising future at the next level. To think she has 4 years to develop, it’s scary to see what type of player she becomes.
Makenzie Hampton | CG / 5-4 | Marmaduke HS | 2024
Makenzie is a competitive point guard with loads of leadership potential. She is a floor general on the court that controls the pace of the game, is never in a rush and makes good decisions. Her handles are deceptive but extremely effective. She does an excellent job getting the defender off balance and wants to get downhill to score. She also finishes pretty well and uses that to her advantage. . A separator in her game is her ability to hit the outside 3-pointer. Defensively she is locked in and will guard the ball and rotate properly. Makenzie was arguable top 3 perfomer at the showcase and earned her respect from her peers and definitely got on my radar.
Jessie Lyle Jessie Lyle 5'6" | PG Nashville | 2025 State AR | CG / 5-6 | Nashville HS | 2025
Jessie is a guard will good ball-handling ability but is a superb shooter. She will control the pace of the game and make sure slow things down if needed but as soon as you relax defensively, she is letting it fly from deep and showed that she can make shots consistently. She single handedly brought her team to win a in the stretch by hitting 3-4 three-pointers including a shot at nearly half court to win the game after trailing the whole game by double digits.
