That makes it difficult to decide who deserves top billing as a member of the Freshman Showcase All-Star Teams. Earlier we announced our First Team selections:

- Audrey Shindelar Audrey Shindelar 6'0" | CG Stewartville | 2026 State MN of Stewartville
- Morgan Staloch Morgan Staloch 6'0" | PF Jordan | 2026 State MN of Jordan
- Dalia Thornton-Fay Dalia Thornton-Fay 5'11" | CG Minnetonka | 2026 State MN of Minnetonka
Now we offer you our Second Team All-Star choices.
Just last week our colleague Rudy Ruffin called Mya a “smooth, silky point guard who has a high basketball IQ, is great at controlling the pace on offense and making good reads.” I’d say that’s pretty accurate. On Sunday the diminutive guard with the super light feet and the natural-as-natural-can-be ball-handling ability showed us once again that she is one of the most skilled players in the Class of 2026. Paired with super-stud Maddyn Greenway Maddyn Greenway 5’8″ | PG Providence Academy | 2026 State MN in the backcourt, Moore looked right at home. Just as she did a few weeks back in making the Class 3A All Tourney team at the Breakdown Summer State Tournament. Just as she did all spring and summer running the point for North Tartan 2026 Nike. Just as she did last winter as an 8th grader earning major minutes at Orono. Mya’s got the ball on a string and the world by the tail. Not to mention one of the best basketball names ever.
Tucker is no stranger to these lists of top performers. We’ve loved her game from the first time we watched. There have definitely been some ups and downs in the ensuing years, and she’s been bothered a fair bit this year by shin splints. But you would never have known it on Sunday. From using her length, height and athleticism to slow down Tori Oehrlein Tori Oehrlein 5’10” | CG Crosby-Ironton | 2026 State MN to forcing countless opponent turnovers, pulling down seemingly unreachable rebounds, and scoring the basketball inside and out, Downs was everywhere at the Freshman Showcase. She has light feet, excellent elevation, moves well laterally and is fast in the open court. Tucker has nice touch, can score at all three levels, and has very good court vision. We’ve seen it all before, of course, but plenty of folks saw it for the first time on Sunday. They were impressed.
Abbie’s got moxie – that certain something that’s difficult to describe but speaks loudly of determination, confidence, swagger and the like. Great point guards tend to be like that. Kelsey Plum. Sabrina Ionescu. Sue Bird. Lindsay Whalen. Now we’re not saying Abbie’s going to be as great as any of those four, but we’re not saying it’s impossible, either. She handles the ball extremely well. She shoots with a ton of confidence. She sees the floor, makes good decisions, takes chances but not bad risks. And she appears to be having a whole lot of fun doing it. We love that in a player! We’ve reached the point with Abbie’s game where we just expect her to play well every time she’s on the floor. That’s not possible of course, but she comes awfully close.
Wherever she ends up playing college basketball – and make no mistake Lewis should play college basketball – she will no doubt be a fan favorite. Brooklyn is just so much fun to watch. She’s clever. Crafty. Highly-skilled. With handles that make you believe she’s going to somehow slip through the narrowest of openings and emerge on the other side with the ball securely in hand. Her feet are quick. Her hands are, too. The way she bobs and weaves, attacks and retreats, slips this way and that. It’s all so entertaining. In the end, though, Lewis is just a really effective point guard who makes smart choices, moves the ball exceptionally well, gets everyone else involved as much as they should be, and manages to put the ball in the basket one way or another. The fact that she can make the highlight reel while doing so is the kind of bonus we’re here for.
At Tartan High School Vienna carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. With all due respect to her fellow Titans, the team desperately needs Vienna to be a superstar night after night just to get through the season with a few victories in hand. It’s a big load to bear for a 9th grader. At the Freshman Showcase, however, Murray was one of dozens of great players in the gym with the freedom to do what she does best without regard to wins or losses or high expectations. The result was predictable for a player widely considered to be one of the most-gifted prospects in the Class of 2026. She got up and down the court at pace, made a ton of intelligent basketball plays, and she knocked down that oh-so-sweet mid-range jump shot that has become her trademark. Vienna is a natural and we’re happy to watch her do her thing as often as we possibly can.
