I had a lot of notes from the event that I wasn’t able to get to in my initial articles, so I definitely want to hit on those now. We will start out by looking at some of the 2023 prospects that I saw this past weekend!
It felt like West was grabbing every single rebound on defense and offense at one point. Her rebounding is strong and while she uses her length well, the way she goes after every rebound with high intensity is what makes it extremely hard for opposing teams to keep her off of the boards. West has good touch around the rim, but she can also extend out and knock down shots. She can even knock down 3’s despite having a lot of strong post moves to turn to inside. Her recognition on her drives was another strength I saw from West on Saturday.
Highlights
Poole showed a lot of solid point guard skills. She was handling the ball and handling pressure really well. She really just looked comfortable with the ball in her hands. Poole proved to be an excellent shooter as well. She caught the ball ready to fire and she was knocking them down with ease.
Woods played well on both sides of the ball. She made some hustle plays and she took the ball the length of the floor a few times. She recognized when defenders weren’t stepping over and she was getting to the rim where she finished well. Woods can knock down jump shots from anywhere on the floor as well.
Highlights
Floyd plays extremely hard. She was really working when she was on the floor. She crashes the boards hard and she’s also willing to fight for rebounds. Floyd isn’t afraid of physicality or drawing fouls on her drives. She seemed to always be in the right place on both sides of the ball and I think a lot of that can be attributed to her work ethic.
Highlights
Estes is a really strong player, physically and mentally. She showed a variety of good post moves and she was finishing through contact at the rim. I was really impressed by Estes on the defensive end as well. She was always in the right help defense positions and she altered a lot of shots around the rim.
