At roughly 5’7, Jima was a constant problem for defenses as a downhill driver going either direction. The incoming junior combo guard proved to be one of the more composed perimeter threats within the halfcourt. Once around the rim, Jima stayed ready to utilize a pump fake to get the defense out of position. She was a consistent threat on the offensive glass, proving to be a difficult matchup for most opposing guards. Jima currently sits at 83rd in the 2024 class and 34th among combo guards.
Gianna Whiteside Gianna Whiteside 5'11" | PF AZ Compass Prep | 2024 State AZ – George Washington – 2024
Whiteside possesses a knockdown jump shot within the mid-range along with noticeable ballhandling equity. At roughly 6′ tall, Whiteside is quite advanced for her positional size, due her advanced perimeter skillset. She is capable attacking closeouts and creating a myriad of opportunities within the arc. Whiteside proved to be a threat as a mid-range shooter, where she could step into shots with ease or pull it back to create space. Whiteside does not shy away from contact either, in fact drawing fouls is one of her key strengths. Pointing out the dirty work, Whiteside leaves no loose ball left alone, proving to be one of the better hustle athletes from the event. Whiteside currently sits 3rd within the 2024 class and second among small forwards.
– Rangeview – 2024
Horton was a no-nonsense defender versus multiple positions at this event. The incoming junior stands at roughly 5’11 and never shied away from contact on either end. Horton proved to be another glass cleaner, who was especially active hunting for loose balls. Although Horton was noticeably active without the ball, she proved to have some on-ball skills when getting downhill. With her long strides, Horton utilized crossovers to generate space getting downhill with either hand, where she often sought out contact under the rim. Horton currently ranks 33rd within the class and 7th among small forwards.
Lydia Flowers – Air Academy – 2025
The lone freshman on this list, Flowers flashed excellent footwork under the rim and noticeable assertiveness within the fullcourt. Standing right around 5’11, Flowers will be an intriguing forward due to her offensive flashes around the basket. On multiple occasions, she utilized spin moves to create space when driving into the paint. Flowers will be worth tracking this season, given her upside both in the low post and as a transition threat. Flowers is on our 2025 watch list, stay posted for rankings.
Dessirae Ulmer Dessirae Ulmer 6'0" | PF Fountain Fort Carson | 2024 State CO – Fountain Fort Carson – 2024
Standing right around 6′ tall, Ulmer was a problem on the glass due to her ability to take hits and hustle for loose balls. The incoming junior forward was one of the gritter athletes last weekend, grabbing at least six rebounds in the first half I watched. She made a noticeable effort to crash the glass on every possession. On defense, Ulmer stayed ready to contest shots around the rim, through assertive help side rotations. She showed flashes of staunch perimeter defense, where her quick hands created a few turnovers for the opposition. Although currently unranked, her grit cannot go unnoticed.
