She gave some valuable information after watching my daughter for a couple of minutes and leaving the court after she missed 2 shots. A few days later she called and said they were offering her a scholarship, my response was “but she missed those shots coach and you left” and her response was “there are more important things than scoring” and I have tried to share that over the years to those who think they know something, but alas, I hate banging my head against the walls so here are some players that will play a big part in their team’s puzzle this season
Brennan made a deep run last season, so here ya go
Aalyah Cobb-5’6 CG (Brennan) 2023
Cobb brings so much intensity on the defensive side that I would have to say she is one of the best defensive guards in her area. on the ball, yes yet on the floor diving for loose balls is a double yes, plus she doesn’t mind taking charges
Zanyra Adams Zanyra Adams 5'9" | SF Brennan | 2023 State TX -5’7 SG (Brennan) 2023
Adams is strong and athletic, which works too as she falls into that ”plays bigger than she is” category. She elevates over defenders to score both off the dribble and with the short jumper but her UPS also enables her to rebound over taller players
Elyse Sellers- 6’0 SF (Brennan) 2023
Sellers will have next-level coaches buying into what she brings to the table. First of all, she’s long and athletic, and that will always be the base. She slices to the basket and finishes after contact, she scores around the basket and she has good timing to block shots
Noelani Ajel Noelani Ajel 5'5" | SG Steele | 2024 State TX -5’7 SG (Steele) 2024
Ajel’s role becomes bigger this season and she’s more than ready for the challenge. She can score multiple ways, off the dribble and mid to long range yet she doesn’t force shots and understands how to get hers in the flow. Solid court vision as well as defense
Mia Hammonds-6’3 PF/C (Steele) 2024
Hammonds uses every inch to create terror when challenged. Her wingspan as well as her doing things instinctively combined with her timing gets her numerous blocks. She also makes the offensive player think, well defender too because she scores around the basket
Tyra Sotello Tyra Sotello 5'6" | PG Brennan | 2024 State TX – 5’6 PG (Brennan) 2024
Sotello was out for the event with a slight sprain yet count on her continuous progression to be a factor in how far her team goes. Pressure has always been irrelevant, she understands how to run a team, and just as importantly, she wants the ball in the clutch and can drop mid to long
Tiarra Louis (Brennan) 2024
Louis might be THE GLUE that helps the pieces stay together. She is a capable scorer, from everywhere, and she also can defend baseline to baseline but her being in the right place at the right time, like picking up steals and playing the passing lane, are always big
Mya Guzman-5’7 SG (Stevens) 2024
Guzman continues to show me that she is more than just a three-point shooter. Yes, I have personally seen her drop 7 or 8 in games yet she’s setting defenders up better to attack or drop the midrange
Giana Monda-5’8 SG/SF (Stevens) 2025
Monda has always been ready for a challenge and her willingness to battle for rebounds against taller players, as well as score on the interior, put-backs included, has always kept my attention. Nice midrange and solid defense also stand out
Kenijah Richards- 5’8 SG/SF ( Shoemaker) 2025
Richards was one of the most impressive new players I saw, no I didn’t place her on the New Faces list because this one is better suited. She goes hard, on both ends, and watching her attack and rebound relentlessly was a huge boost for me. She also applied heat baseline to baseline on defense
