Continue ReadingThe next conference we’re looking at is the Eastern Wisconsin Conference. Brillion took the conference title with a 14-1 record. However, right behind them in the standings were New Holstein and Kiel, who finished within two games of the Lions last season. The Lions were one game away from the state tournament last season, dropping the Sectional Final to eventual runner-up Freedom.
Megan Schuman Megan Schuman 6'0" | SF Brillion | 2023 State WI
The 6-foot Winona State commit brings a unique combination of size and skill to the floor. Schuman can score from anywhere on the floor, like a forward or a guard. Her jumper is challenging to contest due to her lift and high release. It doesn’t hurt that she shot 37% from the 3-point line. Her athleticism also contributes to her defensive skill set. She moves her feet on the perimeter and stays in front of her assignment, even against high-end opposition. This team is good enough to get to the state tournament.
Grace Schisel Grace Schisel 5'8" | SG New Holstein | 2023 State WI
The New Holstein guard led the conference in scoring with 24.2 points per contest and finished tied for sixth in the state in scoring as a junior. If a defender goes under a screen, Schisel has a layup from the 3-point line, where she shot 41.3% last season. The Grand View commit can bust a game open with her shooting, and she’s done that on multiple occasions. At Sheboygan Lutheran last season, Schisel hit nine of her 15 3-point attempts against Fox Valley Lutheran, she went six for 10 in a seven-point win, and in a six-point win against Sheboygan Falls, she went seven for 13. The bottom line is she’s a game changer.
Adahlyn Hoerl Adahlyn Hoerl 5'10" | CG Chilton WI | 2025 State WI
The younger sister of 2021-22 Conference Player of the Year, Olivia, Adahlyn, has a similar game to her older sister. Hoerl is a tall, strong guard that can hurt defenses from the inside and the outside. She can play either guard spot, and with her sister graduating and playing at the next level, the younger Hoerl will likely have a high usage role this season.
Emma Adleman
Adleman’s 426 points and 72 3-pointers both broke previous Raider single-season records. She shot the ball well and rebounded for her team. As good as last season was for Adleman, she should be even better in her senior campaign. Last season, the Raiders dropped the Sectional-Semifinal to Brillion, but this season should be fun with the Raiders and Huskies of New Holstein challenging for the EWC title.
