The Michigan Mystics is trying to break this mindset with their every Sunday Queen of the Court. Close to 100 girls from Grades 8 to 12 went through a series of drills aimed at improving footwork, shooting, screening, and defense. There were six stations, but I chose to post up at the 3 v 3 station and got to see some kids showcase their skills.
Alexcis Parker Alexcis Parker 5'9" | PG Flint Powers | 2023 State MI | Flint Powers | 2023
The Powers product has been putting up points for the Chargers for a couple of years; this year, she is showcasing a complete game. Her cuts had a purpose and a commitment to fundamentals that was the top of the group. She had multiple positional blocks and hit the toughest three pointer of the day- off a screen with a dribble to avoid the help.
Lexie Raska | Grand Ledge | 2026
Smooth is the key word for Lexie. She showcased slashing skills that made the right read the majority of the time. She is a very solid pocket passer that actually makes use of what the defender is giving her. She hit a deep three off a screen and shot well in the footwork line. She will be a kid that will be interesting to watch the next four years.
Jensyn Machala | Standish Sterling | 2026
I loved watching this kid. She is just that kid that does a little of everything. She hit her open shots and knew when not to take the shot. She plays passing lanes very well and is an absolute pest on defense. She showed nice fundamentals and footwork in the pick and roll. Standish is getting a good young player.
Madison Page Madison Page 5'5" | SG Midland | 2025 State MI | Midland | 2025
The Chemic is a high energy shooter that has a very quick release. She didn’t get to showcase it, but she is a blur in transition. She also does a nice job of getting in passing lanes.
Damaya Hartwick Damaya Hartwick 5'2" | PG Grand Blanc | 2025 State MI | Flushing | 2025
The diminutive guard has some of the slickest handles in the state. She showed a lot of strides in the physicality of her defense during today’s run. She also hit her outside shots a high rate.
Isabel Wotlinski Isabel Wotlinski 5'9" | SF Lake Orion | 2025 State MI | Lake Orion | 2025
The sophomore does a nice job reading passing and driving angles. She makes great use of her body on drives. Her energy and defense was high energy, as always with her.
