Players participated in a ball-handling warm-up and skills stations focused on attacking the basket and shooting. Players were also separated according to their position and skill level and competed in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 tournaments. Players competed until there were one player or last team standing. It was good to see players work and the players listed below caught my eye and stood out.
Sophia Vogel | G / 5-4 | Childers MS | 2029
Sophia is a skilled guard that showed a lot of good things. A week prior, I was at the I-35 Showcase in Oklahoma City covering that event and Sophia was also attending. It was her first showcase so she struggled. However, she came with the sauce this weekend and played with supreme control and confidence. She has a good-looking shot with a consistent form. She has good foot work in the paint when finishing, and it gives her the advantage when shooting as well. She has a lot of potential and I look forward to see her grow within the next few months.
Aubrei Littlewalker | G / 5-0 | Ponca City West MS | 2028
Aubrei is a young guard that will surprise you with her maturity when the ball is in her hands. She takes care of the ball and knows how to make good decisions and also handles pressure well. She can hit the outside jumper and create off the dribble inside the 3-point arc. She works hard on her game and it reflects when playing. She isn’t afraid of the moment and holds her own against bigger players. Defensively she is locked in and will give maximum effort.
Nicole Jones | PG / 4-9 | Ruth Dole MS | 2029
Nicole is a warrior on the court. It doesn’t matter if she gets knocked around, she will fight through it and still give it her all. She is a skilled guard that controls the pace of a game, finds open teammates, and can shoot the ball. She is a good teammate puts the needs of others ahead of her, but she is capable of taking over. I mentioned her shooting ability, but she has a special looking form and has range from deep. Nicole is a pleasant player to be around and I look forward to catching more of her in the near future.
Tegan Snodgrass | G / 5-3 | Dodge City MS | 2029
Tegan is a skilled guard with loads of potential. Her approach to the game is business-like and you can tell she works hard and loves the game of basketball. At the showcase she competed and held her own even against bigger players. In the skills workout, she was the most locked in and gave a lot of effort. When competing she is crafty and uses her IQ to outwit opponents. She will shoot the 3-ball in transition with confidence. She knows how to attack the basket, and is very effective when finishing. She knows how to sell the shot and has different options in the paint. She is fun to watch and if she continues to work on her game, she will continue to excel on the court.
