Brittney Rhodes (Whitfield): A 6’0″ 2024 forward who plays a solid all-around game to help her team. She really operates well from the high post because she can deliver the right pass, make a move off the dribble and hit the 15-foot jumper. She is a good positional player who finishes well around the basket. She has a high basketball IQ with her decision making. In Sunday’s game, she made a steal and set up a teammate for a last-second layup for the victory.
Janyla Bush (Vashon): The talented 2024 point guard was getting it done at both ends of the court on Sunday with quickness and tenacity. She was displaying her electric handles that enable her to get anywhere on the floor that she wants to. She was creating shots off the dribble and knocking down jumpers while also setting up teammates with some smooth dimes, including some of the no-look variety.
Ava McCulla (Parkway South): The 6’2″ 2025 forward was a force at both ends of the court with her size and activity. She has some great seals in the low post as she established her position and got buckets on drop steps and turnaround jumpers. She was also stepping out and hitting high post jumpers with a nice touch. She was also a big factor on the defensive end as she used her length and timing to block and alter shots.
Jailah Pelly (O’Fallon, IL): A 5’9″ 2023 guard who is the most impressive slashing threat in the league, without question. When she gets the ball, she is getting to the basket and there’s very little that can be done to stop her. She can blast in with her tremendous first step and burst or she can hit you with a hesi move to keep you off balance. She is also an excellent finisher in the paint. She is a very active defender who can dart into the passing lanes and guard multiple positions.
Amaya Manuel (Lift for Life): A 2027 point guard who was impressive in the middle school division and even more impressive when I saw her play in the high school division. She is a very confident offensive player with slick handles and three-level scoring ability. She can break down defenders off the dribble and pull up from long distance.
Dasia Scott (Ladue Middle): A 6’0″ 2027 forward who is also playing in both the middle school and high school divisions and she is very productive in both. She can dominate inside with her combination of height and physical strength. She has solid moves in the paint and a nice touch around the basket. She also has a nice perimeter skill set with the ability to handle the ball and knock down 3-pointers.
Jordan Haywood (Lutheran North Middle): A 5’10” 2028 guard who is a tremendous young up and coming prospect. She is a prime athlete with a high basketball IQ and a impressive skill set. In the first minute of the game I watched, she delivered a left-handed (her opposite hand) bounce pass from about 40 feet through traffic to a cutting teammate for a bucket. Jaw dropping. She can attack off the dribble and hit the 3-pointer off the dribble. She can also guard multiple positions on the defensive end.
