Continue ReadingIt’s that time of year again where the prospects in Ohio are recognized by Prep Girls Hoops in their quarterly ranking update. This week, we take a look at the 2023 seniors who look to finish out their high school careers with a strong season. Several are already committed to colleges, others will make their choice soon. I will be looking at some of the players who saw their ranking improve in the latest update.
The Wisconsin commit is such an electrifying guard with a lot of tools. She is a pure scorer with the ability to score from the outside from any range, but also can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. She has excellent handles and is a smooth floor general, able to finish at the rim with either hand. Pure leader, can put her team on her shoulders and carry them if needed. Solid on-ball defender, can force mistakes and turn them into points. Moves up to #4 in the latest update.
Like her high school teammate Tessa, it will be a strong year from Jenna (feature photo above) that should help Coffman compete deep into the season and into the tournament. She is a hard-nosed gritty player who isn’t afraid of contact and can finish well. Excellent footwork, able to maneuver in the paint and finish at the rim. Can beat you in a variety of ways including from downtown. Moves up to #11.
This post player just seems to keep getting better. She is narrowing her decision down to three, and has put a lot of time into her craft. I love the way she can move in the paint and her footwork is solid. Soft touch at the rim, able to finish. Good length which allows her to rebound the ball well. At 6’5″, Mary is a bigtime force on both sides of the ball. She makes the move up to #12,
This Central Ohio talent can do it all from the guard spot, and moves up into the top 20 in her class. She has good hands, able to use both well with the ball. Good speed, body control and a strong knowledge of the game. Excellent defender and is a difference maker on that side of the ball. Plays with a lot of intensity, Kiki will continue to turn her level of play up even more this season. She lands at #19 in the latest update.
Welcome home Paris Gilmore Paris Gilmore 5’7″ | PG Warrensville Heights | 2023 State OH . After a year in Pennsylvania, Gilmore is back in Northeast Ohio and is ready to make life rough for her opponents. If what I saw last weekend is any indication, teams better start now trying to figure her out. Amazing handles and full of swag, Paris is a great distributer or can explode by her defender to make a play. Defensively she is a problem, active and quick hands and with her speed, teams could be in trouble. Skies up the rankings landing at #20 all the way from the watchlist.
