There’s plenty of great basketball to be had here, plenty of great prospects and programs to go over. That’s exactly what we’re going to do in this article as we talk about the top shooting guards in the Trenton area.
NOTE: We will not be including players we discussed in our last Trenton city rankings article. This will include entirely new players to highlight new prospects, though we acknowledge great shooters like Kyla Glasser-Hyman Kyla Glasser-Hyman 5'6" | PG Hightstown | 2023 State NJ , Simone Pintalli and Rhian Stokes Rhian Stokes 5'8" | PG Ewing | 2024 State NJ , among others
Kylie Vandenberg Kylie Vandenberg 5'7" | SG West Windsor-Plainsboro North | 2023 State NJ – 5-7, West Windsor-Plainsboro North (2023)
Vandenberg was WWPN’s best scorer last season and best shooter by a wide margin, knocking down 44 threes last season. She averaged over two a game and more than half of her scoring came from beyond the arc. For good reason too because she’s quick with the ball, an overall efficient shooter and someone who isn’t afraid to take threes in bulk during games. The best shooters keep shooting and that’s exactly what Vandenberg does.
Emma Yanagi – West Windsor-Plainsboro South (2023)
So many great shooters in the area and in the CVC graduated in the spring, leaving us with new prospect to focus on, like Yanagi, who doesn’t jump off the page just yet for WWPS. However, after coming out of nowhere to be a consistent scorer and player for the Pirates, she’s really proved herself to be a solid scorer. Yanagi knocked down one three-pointer a game for WWPS and very much showed consistency from that point. With 53 percent of her scoring coming from three, she’ll continue to rely on that heavily this season.
Te’Yala Delfosse Te’Yala Delfosse 6'2" | SF Ewing | 2024 State NJ – 5-11, Ewing (2024)
Delfosse has come a long a way as a shooter for Ewing, a player who made just 3 three-pointers as a freshman and didn’t really showing off an ability to light it up from the perimeter. However that significantly changed as a sophomore, where she hit over one a game and developed a smooth, quick release that allowed her to be more consistently successful.
Lindsey Ditmar Lindsey Ditmar CG Delaware Valley | 2025 NJ – Delaware Valley (2025)
A wildly underrated pick here, Ditmar consistently connected from three as a freshman and is going to heavily benefit from several starting seniors graduating in the spring. It looks like a starting spot will open up for her, which means more playing time, more shot attempts and more shot makes. Ditmar wasn’t afraid to shoot as a freshman and that brought confidence. That confidence will only continue to grow the more she continues to play.
Chloe Messer Chloe Messer 5'8" | PG Jackson Memorial | 2023 State NJ – Jackson Memorial (2023)
Messer is teamed up with Zoie Maffei Zoie Maffei 5'11" | SF Jackson Memorial | 2023 State NJ this season, their final season at Jackson Memorial, and the two are going to be one of the most exciting dynamic duos in the region and the state. While we might see Messer take up more of a point guard role, make no mistake with her that she’s one of the best shooters in the state and was very much a more shooter-focused player last season. The Jaguars utilized her well on the wing and in spot-up situations, something that she’ll be doing more of the shot creation herself this season.
