These Sophomores are more than adaptable in making even more noise this year. On this list we have some of the best ball handlers, shooters and overall bucket getters. Without hesitation let’s dive in!
Starting off our list we have…
Cabryn Fritel Cabryn Fritel 5'10" | SF Devils Lake | 2025 State ND – a 5’10 Sophomore Forward from Devils Lake. Pick and roll big with limitless potential. A big body frame that has good strength. Fritel averaged close to 9 points, 7 rebounds a contest last year. A for sure double-double player that is going to make some noise on a talented Devils Lake team this year. If this future Firebird star ever develops a solid mid-range or trey ball game this will be a mismatch made for elite defenders only. A breakout season is in the making for Cabryn this season.
Olivia Hammes Olivia Hammes 5'7" | CG Fargo North | 2025 State ND – a 5’7 Sophomore Guard from Fargo North. Time and patients with this developing guard. Olivia saw some good court time this past year and will likely see some better time this year. Just averaging over 5 points a game this decisive guard can shoot! You’ve got to keep both eyes on this one. I predict Hammes will light up the score board a little bit more this year and have a healthy 35% trey ball percentage this year.
Laela Jensen Laela Jensen 5'7" | CG Hettinger-Scranton | 2025 State ND – 5’7 Sophomore Guard from Hettinger-Scranton. Laela is speed! She’s a quick athlete that isn’t hesitant on making plays for her team offensively or defensively. A play maker by trait Jensen loves to push the tempo in the open court. She’s got a good grip on the ball and legs that will propel her to the hoop if she desired every time. A nice looking jump shot with some quick footwork Laela should have a fun season this year as she continues to develop her game at a higher level.
Kyra Beckman Kyra Beckman 6'0" | PF Bottineau | 2025 State ND – 5’11 Sophomore Forward from Bottineau. Kyra is possibly the most athletic player on this list. She has great size and strength and you can always expect a brutal match up in the post with her. She’s got a sweet little jump hook she utilizes in creating space and scoring over the top of smaller less athletic forwards. She’s an animal when it comes to rebounds and cleans up the glass offensively for put back opportunities. Kyra in my opinion is a 4 year player at a college or university level. She’s not just an athlete, but an overall leader on the court. There’s been countless times through interviews and papers that teammates and coaches genuinely agree she’s a joy to be around and get’s the best out of her team. If you’re an NAIA to D2 level team looking towards the future for a great player. Here she is!
Scout Woods Scout Woods 5'10" | SF Wahpeton | 2025 State ND – 5’10 Sophomore Forward from Wahpeton. It’s about drive, determination, skill and raw power with this one. Scout is a packaged athlete. She’s versatile, but you know exactly how she scores on most nights. Power moves in the post and aggression. A skilled defender that moves her feet like a guard and player that really show’s energy on the court. You can tell Scout leaves everything she has out there on display. Scout’s been playing varsity since 8th grade and has developed into one of the top premier players for the Huskie squad. Expectations have already been set high by her teammates, but Scout has even bigger expectations of herself. In my opinion this youngen has D2 facets with a skill set and drive that will propel her ceiling to a very high level of play.
