The players below listed made a great impact on the court and in my opinion were the top performers of the showcase. The gym was filled with talent, but these players stood out to me.
Annie Dawson Annie Dawson 5'7" | CG Lakewood Christian | 2024 State OK | 5-7 / G | Lakewood Christian | 2024
Annie is a player that will give you balance effort across the board. She showed that you must respect her on the perimeter and if you are caught slipping, she will make you pay. She has range and can shoot the heck out of the ball. However, if you attempt to take her shot away, she can put the ball on the floor and attack the basket. She also finishes at the rim through traffic well and that was impressive. She is a smart player that works hard and bring value on the court for her team.
Kate Melton Kate Melton 5'7" | CG Edmond North | 2024 State OK | 5-7 / G | Edmond North HS | 2024
Kate is a supreme high-IQ basketball player. She plays under control, doesn’t force the issue, and can create for herself and her teammates. I like her game because she is a sniper from long-range and when her team needs a basket she will deliver. She is cool, calm and collected but she is capable of catching on fire and taking over the game and good luck trying to cool her down. Kate needs to be on college coaches’ radar, she is a winner.
Ava Casper Ava Casper 5'7" | SG Holland Hall | 2025 State OK | 5-6 / G | Holland Hall | 2025
Ava is a skilled guard with potential to be a solid contributor on the court. She has good handles and is pretty quick off the dribble. If she is left wide open from 3, she will make you pay by hitting the outside jumper. She is ready to shoot it quick or put it on the floor and attack the rim. If the basket isn’t open, her mid-range shot is special and I would like to see her use it more often. She lets the game come to her and is a good at making the post-entry pass. She is an up-and-coming player and I expect to see some good things this year.
Lilly Thomas Lilly Thomas 6'1" | PF El Reno | 2025 State OK | 6-1 / C | El Reno HS | 2025
Lilly is an up-and-coming player that will potentially become a household name in Oklahoma, if she continues to develop her game. Her size gives her the advantage and what she can do with her size puts her in a class of her own. She works hard inside and punishes her opponents when she catches the ball around the rim. She is also effective at the mid post, catching and facing up and hitting the jumper. She is a willing passer and makes key passes that make a difference. I would like to see her be more aggressive at the low post. It may take some time but when she figures out her dominance, she will put everyone on notice. I look forward to see her work this year.
Jamiya Woodard | 5-9 / SF | Union HS | 2025
JaMiya is an athletic guard with potential to be an impact player. She possesses all the tools to be great: size, handles, defensive instincts, and so much more. If she can develop an assertive approach to the game she will make a major impact on the court. I would like to continue see her develop and I look forward to see her this year at Union.
