The 6’1 center competed with Lady Pure Prep AAU over the summer as the dominate force in the middle on both sides of the ball. She has worked in the offseason to expand her game and be ready to show her versatility this upcoming winter as she will look to snag a starting spot for the Indians as they have graduated three starters from a year prior. It is pretty early for anyone from the class of 2024 to commit but it will be interesting to see how much McDaniel will contribute for her team after finishing 17-5 overall, 12-2 in conference.

Westwood High School had a good season finishing 20-3, 11-0 in conference a year ago. With the help of Addy Johnson Addy Johnson 6’0″ | C Westwood | 2024 State IA and company, they will seek out the same result this season. Johnson, their 6’0 combo forward who can play the 3-5 positions, averaged 18.4 PPG at a 54.2% rate, while securing 9.6 RPG. For her high school team she plays more of a “big” position compared to what she will play in college, where her skillset will allow her to play more of a guard spot for certain programs. She is an efficient scorer off of two feet, is always willing to pass, and has capabilities to stretch the floor and shoot the three when uncontested. In the future it’ll be exciting to see where Johnson ends up after finishing her high school career. It’s a long ways away but with two more seasons left she will definitely be a stock riser as time progresses as she already has interest and offers from the D2 level and up.

Vanessa Bickford Vanessa Bickford 5’9″ | PG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2024 State IA is a facilitator for her DCG High School team who lost their season last year after an impressive state run where they ended up losing to Xavier High School, the eventual state champs. This made the Mustangs 21-4 overall, 13-1 in conference with a conference championship. Bickford averaged 7.4 PPG on 44% shooting, 3.7 RPG, and 2.6 APG. She ranked second in assists in 21′-22 for DCG High School as she will look to take over the control of that stat this season in hopes of leading her team back to state, which may pose a tough challenge with having less varsity experience as an overall team but with hard work that shouldn’t look to slow them down once playoffs roll around.
The Valley Tigers will return four starters from last season and a loaded roster as they try to win each game they play. A big reason that the Tigers will have the chance to do so is the previous work each player has put in throughout time. One of their most important pieces being junior Elise Jaeger Elise Jaeger 6’1″ | PF Valley | 2024 State IA . Elise averaged 12.1 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 2.2 APG, blocked 13 shots, and created 50+ turnovers with her time on the floor during the 21′-22′ season. She is a mismatch problem as she plays the 3 or 4 position for her current team but will truly be a college combo guard instead, making it very easy for her to expose a mismatch in her favor. The All Iowa Attack starter has been in the gym during the offseason, working on her game and the weaknesses she has, as she looks to put up even better numbers this high school season.
