Micah Vaughn-6’2 PF (Cedar Hill) 2023
Vaughn was impressive in many ways as she used her size to her advantage, scoring off the dribble and finishing on rebounds with either hand. She is long and athletic, which is the base and she did a good job playing the passing lane as well as defending but that midrange …
Elizabeth Walton Elizabeth Walton 5'7" | PG The Village | 2023 State TX -5’8 CG (The Village) 2023
Walton has amazed me since way before high school by showing her ability to create contact. That’s something you can’t teach and I love those things as well so her being an “and one” waiting to happen has been a thrill to see. She also knocked down the jumpers from all over and saw the floor
Amina Djbrine Sy- 5’10 PF (The Village) 2023
Djbrine-Sy just goes hard and falls into that “never takes a play-off” type of player. She rebounds against taller players, on both ends and has shown she can score off the dribble as well as on putbacks, both after contact. She also plays the passing lane and can “man up” from baseline to baseline. as well as inside the paint
Kierra Merchant Kierra Merchant 5'10" | CG Westfield | 2023 State TX -5’10 SG (Westfield) 2023
Merchant is “long and athletic” which will always be the base and the Houston signee has been showing me numerous things since I caught her before high school. She elevates over defenders to drop it from midrange yet her smoothness off the dribble enables her to score as well. She has good timing on defense to block shots
Nevaeh Craft-5’7 PG (Westfield) 2023
Craft is solid in all aspects because she goes hard, she understands how to control; the tempo and she plays within herself. Her court vision also sows her unselfishness yet she can score almost at will, both off the dribble, attacking with either hand as well as dropping the jumper
Kaitlyn Evans-5’7 CG (Westside) 2023
Evans just reads the defense so well and watching her come from nowhere to play the passing lane is masterful. She loves to defend, saw that probably in elementary school yet she understands how to use her athleticism. She scores off the dribble as well as from the midrange plus her “on the ball” pressure fits her team perfectly
Tiffany Nguyen-5’5 CG (Dickinson) 2023
Nguyen is heady and under control yet she falls into a category I love to hashtag and that’s #sizedontmatter because she can play. She’s under control, handles the ball under pressure, and also sees the floor, under
Kearstyn Hall-5’8 SG/SF (Silsbee) 2024
Hall scored off the dribble and finished after the lick yet she also created her shot to get that going. By creating, it gave her options because she showed she could drop the midrange, just to keep the defender honest. Add that she rebounded on both ends and showed solid interior defense
Janiya Murphy Janiya Murphy 5'7" | CG Summer Creek | 2024 State TX -5’6 SG (Summer Creek) 2024
Murphy laid down the law, get it, Murphy’s Law, yet her on-the-ball defense was overly impressive because “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” and that simple phrase goes over the heads of many season after season yet her being able to create turnovers helps her explosive squad. She also scored off the dribble as well as the pull-up
Taylor Craver Taylor Craver 5'8" | PG Sasche | 2024 State TX -5’8 PG (Cedar Hill) 2024
Craver applies so much heat defensively that I actually sweat and that’s the truth. The sheer tenacity of her “on the ball” pressure is something and I’m talking baseline to baseline, as well as in the set yet her playing the passing lane and scoring off the dribble also stood out
Nisaa Muhammad- 5’6 CG (Desoto) 2025
Muhammad goes hard and powerful yet under control. She’s also strong so the contact is irrelevant, especially when you factor in her body control. She has a nice midrange jumper and can make things happen in the open court because she adds good court vision to her game
Brooklyn King Brooklyn King 6'0" | SF Cedar Hill | 2025 State TX -6’0 PF/C (Cedar Hill) 2025
King is one of the upcoming QUEENS that have that “hands and footwork” thing down pat yet her finishing after contact around the basket first stood out at the PGH Texas Top 250 Expo and she showed me I wasn’t seeing a mirage. She rebounded on both ends and stepped out and dropped it
Vivian Franklin Vivian Franklin 5'8" | SG Greenhill School | 2025 State TX – 5’9 SG Desoto [2025]
Franklin did so much the first time I caught her before high school that I dropped the #D1Lock on her. Well, she drops jumpers from everywhere and is hard to lock down, see how I spun it, and speaking of spin, her off-the-dribble moves to the basket were very nice
