I took notes and I noticed players that made a big impact for their school and I liked what I saw. Here are a few comments and feedback from my observation at the tournament, and I look forward to checking in throughout the season on the players and the success of their team.
Macy Lee
Macy Lee
Macy Lee contributed from deep, making two 3-pointers in the first half vs Broken Arrow. She is a ready shooter and if she shoots it in rhythm – it’s a bucket. She works on the defensive end and will give good effort – hustling to the loose balls and playing with active hands.
Grace Pippett Grace Pippett 6’0″ | SF Broken Arrow | 2023 State OK : Stretching the floor knocking down 2 3’s early in the 1st quarter versus Piedmont and continued in the second quarter of the first-round game. She was in the right place at the right time – ready to score the ball inside and on the perimeter. I look for Grace to make a great impact in her senior season at Broken Arrow.
Highlights
Taneya Howard Taneya Howard 5’11” | PF Broken Arrow | 2023 State OK : is an athletic forward that has potential to be a solid player. She is bouncy, has a wing-span that can intimidate the opposing team. She will bang down low and has pretty good footwork to maneuver around the defense. She can hit the midrange jumper and will bring defensive intensity. Rim protector, deflections, competitive spirit.
Allison Heathcock Allison Heathcock 6’0″ | SG Edmond North | 2024 State OK : long shooting guard that brings production on both ends of the floor, Stretches the floor and shoots the ball with the best of them, Good defensive intensity. Has good anticipation on defense and is a rim protector, she plays to win and has valuable tools in her tool belt.
Auhnesty Hawkins Auhnesty Hawkins 5’8″ | CG Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK : is a defensive specialist, her ability to guard the ball and make the ball handler uncomfortable is next to none. Auhnesty can hit the outside shot and will play her role well. She gives maximum effort on the floor and brings defensive intensity and depth for her team.
Alyssa Nielson: is a skilled forward that has a solid midrange game. I love her patent fadeaway shot, 9 times out of 10 its going in. I would like to see her be more physical because I think it would open up her game even more. I love the charges she takes on defense – it always fires up her team.
Angela Vergara
Angela Vergara
Angela Vergara: is a combo guard that controls the pace for her team. She gets everyone involved and makes sure her teammates are in the correct spots. She is rarely in a rush and takes care of the ball. Her natural position is to play the off guard but she is able to run the show like a floor general. She shoots the ball pretty good and makes good decisions with the ball in her hands.
