It was also good to have a roster since so many club teams omit them for whatever selfish yet illogical reason(s).
Cailan Hale-5’9 G (Cedar Hill)
Hale’s on-the-ball defense is smothering yet she uses her athleticism well on both ends. She scored off the dribble using a powerful first step and she finished powerfully, after contact. Her midrange was consistent and she battled for rebounds, on both ends of the court
Jazmine Carraway-5’9 G (Cedar Hill)
Carraway is another Lady Longhorn guard who is not only athletic yet her acrobatic finishes JUST DID IT for me. Her first step gets everything going, it’s hard to handle but so is her pull-up jumper, in the set or in transition, She also plays the passing lane to a tee
Micah Vaughn-6’0 F (Cedar Hill)
Vaughn falls into the “lone and athletic” category which will always be the base. I enjoy watching her maneuver around the basket to score, putbacks included as she rebounds on both ends. I also like her range as she can drop it from mid to long range yet she also did a good job attacking and finishing from the wing
Macey Mercer-5’6 CG (Coppell)
Mercer shows no MERCY as she’s heady, sees the floor, and plays within herself. I also enjoyed her “creating contact” off the dribble, which is huge but her midrange pull-up gives her options offensively and keeps the defender guessing. On the flip, she does a good job defending “on the ball” and plays the passing lane
Alyssa Potter-5’6 CG (Coppell)
Potter just found ways to put the ball into the basket. First of all, her range is something to deal with because her release is quick from either mid or long but she also handled the ball in the open court and showed the stop and pop in transition. She scored off the dribble, attacking with either hand and finishing, with either hand
Waverly Hassman-5’10 F (Coppell)
Hassman’s size and skillset are part of the reasons her team has a shot to do some damage during Part 3 of the season, the playoffs. She showed the “hands and footwork” around the basket and scored inside the paint, but she also scored off the dribble. To add more to the equation, she dropped a clutch 3 late in their game, so she has range. She also rebounded on both ends
Mikalah Buckley-5’7 G (Hendrickson)
Buckley used her first step several times to get to the basket and score off the dribble yet she also did a good job dropping it from outside, mid to long-range.
Maci Quiller-5’11 F (Hendrickson)
Quiller just brought it, wait, she too is long and athletic, but off the dribble, after contact, as well as from outside, she scored plus did a good job rebounding on both ends
Marissa Brewer-5’2 G (Hendrickson)
Brewer proves yet again that #sizedontmatter when you can play. Her court vision as well as scoring attacking the basket was nice, so was the mid to long range yet her on-the-ball defense created problems as well
