Ja’Delle Major-5’7 G (Clear Brook)
Major was MAJOR off the dribble as she attacked the basket strongly yet under control. She finished after contact but she also saw the floor and dished off the dribble also. She created her shot under pressure and knocked down the midrange, but she also dropped it in transition
Alexis Smith-5’8 G (Clear Brook)
Smith is “long and athletic” one more time, that is the base I look at but importantly many college coaches do too. She has a nice pull-up jumper which she elevates to get it off but her “on the ball” defense was nice and so was watching her play the passing lane
Aaliyah Cobb-5’6 G (Brennan)
Cobb is one of those “never takes a play-off” type of player and her DESIRE to go after loose balls, in the air as well as on the floor has always grabbed me. She mans’ up baseline to baseline yet she also enjoys attacking the basket with a deceptive first step to finish after the lick
Elyse Sellers-5’0 F (Brennan)
Sellers has shown progression every season since I started watching her and with her being “long and athletic” see above, she understands her role and makes things happen. She has good timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots, she scores around the basket and can attack from the wing
Natalie Easton (Cornerstone)
Easton has some nice moves in the paint her strong finishes around the basket, and putbacks included were nice. She even showed a solid spin move to get to the rim and completed her off-the-dribble moves after contact. She rebounded on both and ends defended well
Kaylee Warner (Cornerstone)
Warner gets the #THROWBACK hashtag because she did one of the things I love seeing players do and that’s going after the ball on the rim. So many times I see players waiting yet she did it as it should be, plus she finished around the basket
Rylee Busse (Cornerstone)
Busse also did a good job “crashing the boards” on both ends. I wrote UPS, so that means she elevated over others to rebound, as well as score yet she created her shot for the short jumper and showed she could not only get to the basket but create contact on her way to it
Miyah Carter-5’10 F (Hendrickson)
Carter is, one more time, long and athletic and her progression over the years has been nice to see, She showed she could score off the dribble and finish after the lick yet she can stretch the defense out from the outside with the midrange. She rebounded, on both ends, and defended strong and tough
Madison Willaims- 5’6 G (Houston Christian)
Williams is an athletic guard that brings the heat on both ends. She loves to apply pressure from the defensive end and used her quick hands to come away with steals. She also scored off the dribble, as well as dropping the short jumper
Riley Dill (Kerrville Tivy)
Dill hit the boards on both ends over and over and her mindset is ” I won’t be denied” as she BATTLES for everything, okay that deserves a #THROWBACK. She scored around the basket, yep on putbacks also, plus she also scored off the dribble setting the defender up nicely
Ruby Mijares-5’9 F (San Antonio Lee)
Mijares used her body well around the basket to make things happen. The hands and footwork were nice, she scored around the rim and since she rebounded on both ends, she also scored on putbacks. She handled the ball from the wing under pressure and got to the basket for buckets
