Continue ReadingUp from No. 62: A move from Duluth to Lanier has benefitted Howell as she’s the go-to option on offense. At 5-foot-9, Howell has great length, athleticism and motor. She’s got a quick first step downhill and has a respectable outside shot. Asja holds major value on defense and can defend 1-4, maintaining switchability.
Up from No. 65: A high IQ and a will to win help make up for any shortcomings she has with her height. She’s a savvy playmaker that can score with floaters in traffic or with the three-ball. She sees the floor well and is a scrappy on-ball defender.
Highlights
Up from No. 104: Lara Turner is coming. She has terrific size, length and athleticism. She’s a jumping jack that elevates out of a crowd to snag rebounds at their highest point. Turner is a combo-forward. She has a soft touch from the mid-range, able to create off the bounce to get to her shot and finishes well around the rim. Turner can take bigger defenders off the dribble and creates mismatches when placed at the 5. She moves well enough to become an Ace of a defender that can guard both on the perimeter and in the paint. All the physical tools are there for Turner to explode over her final two seasons.
Up from No. 82: Chester has a nice skill level. She flashes the upside of being a point-forward with her ability to distribute from the high post. Chester posts up strong and can score with a variety of post moves. She’s a reliable post defender that blocks shots and can help guard on the perimeter in spurts. When Chester is aggressive and looking for her offense, she’s most successful. She has a lot to work with over her next two years, giving her upside.
Up from No. 100: McCorvey gets after it inside. She’s a good rebounder and a steady scorer around the rim. Kaden has a nice repertoire of back-to-the-basket moves to pull from and has a quick second leap to collect and misses.
