I’m back, and it’s time to go back to work in ladies basketball to offer you the greatest coverage available! I am extremely thrilled to share with you some of the best ballers for ladies’ basketball in the 205 that I have discovered in the last few weeks. These young girls have demonstrated that they are one of the state’s existing top basketball players or that they should be in the running to be the state’s best basketball player. The state of Alabama produces some really unique basketball players, and while covering the 2022-2023 basketball season, I’ve noticed a lot of talent traveling around this region, and I can’t wait to see where they end up during the season and postseason.
So let’s dive and some Alabama girls basketball!
Shaniah Jones
Shaniah Jones
Jones is most effective in transition, when she can fully utilize her outstanding speed and ball-handling ability in Hale County’s incredibly fast-paced style. She can break presses and drive the ball ahead on her own to produce high-percentage shots for herself and others. She does a wonderful job of keeping her head up and making incredible passes, but she may also force the issue at times. Jones, despite her small stature, excels at attacking the hoop. She’s more at ease cutting between defenders in transition than in the half-court, but she can use her craftiness and physical tools in any situation. Jones has excellent body control and the ability to draw contact at the rim, completing on a high percentage of his attempts. Because she is a strong shooter off the dribble, Jones’ mid-range and beyond-the-arc game poses a significant challenge for opposing teams. Jones is just an all-around ball player whose prolific scoring ability offers her side an advantage. Jones has recently put up incredible statistics, such as 20, 18, 18, 15, and 22 points, in her past five games played, assisting her team in winning the last seven games as of December 19, 2022. Shaniah Jones is a pure baller once again, and I envision her as an all-state player and her team advancing far in the AHSAA playoffs. “>
Gordon’s biggest selling point as a prospect focuses around the small things she brings to the table. She has a terrific motor and frequently plays harder than anybody else on the court. The Vestiavia native is an excellent runner, extremely fast off the ground, posts extremely hard, and uses her body to play the position of enforcer on the defensive end. She looks to be a coach’s dream and a player that consistently sets a good example with her hard work. Offensively, Gordon has made significant progress in her post moves, and it is clear that the footwork for the movements she makes is quite natural, resulting in an easy scoring opportunity. Gordon is incredibly effective at shooting the ball everywhere on the court, even scoring off cuts to the basket and offensive rebounds, despite her preference for jumpers beyond the arc. Gordon has a fantastic defensive game that prevents anyone from getting to the hoop on her. She is quite skilled at cutting ball handlers and closing spaces to prevent key plays from occurring. Gordon has things to provide that will carry over from game to game and year to year to generate stress for any team to stop, regardless of the level she is playing at.

Highlights
Gaines excelled as the floor general for her Clay-Chalkville basketball team, finding ways to score from all across the court, and being a efficient leader. She is particularly good at scoring from the mid-range even with off-ball movement. Gaines shown her ability to score off the dribble and in isolation, as well as with post-ups and stepbacks. Gaines can score off the pick-and-roll or generate high-percentage scoring opportunities for teammates as a skilled ballhandler. Gaines’ ability to hit pull-up jump jumpers and get to the hoop gives her a lethal offensive advantage. Gaines has a delicate touch, and her primary mode of attack is penetration. She can drive either way, has a strong floater game, and finishes through contact. Gaines is a dynamic and imaginative passer who can thread the needle to create incredible opportunities for her teammates.
Gaines, on the other end of the court, is an aggressive defender who plays with her hands up and active feet while keeping her head on a swivel. She keeps the ball tight and moves effectively laterally. She is really quite aggressive in a good manner and makes few to no mistakes. Gaines is not hesitant to go in and grab rebounds. She is fantastic at boxing out other players to provide herself or her teammates a chance to snag a rebound. Gaines is a really composed player, and it shows in every game she plays. Studying her craft is both simple and difficult since she provides a wealth of good basketball abilities to her squad.
Lady Cougars move to 11-3 on the season with a 62-34 win over Oneonta. Kamoriah Gaines had 15 points, Brooklyn Phillips 14 and Kameron Sanders 10. Play 7A Thompson tomorrow. @coach_bethea14 @Landon_Robinson @KyleParmley pic.twitter.com/aCFzOY8HRL

Tamiria Jones
Tamiria Jones
Jones is a powerful and robust Point guard who excels as a primary playmaker with the ball in her hands. She has a terrific motor, runs the floor efficiently, and can finish at the rim thanks to her exceptional talent and strength. Her excellent athleticism in terms of speed, agility, and vertical explosiveness is one of her key talents. She makes plays when she has the ball by breaking through with agility and a high basketball IQ. Jones is a master of disguise, and her footwork is flawless. With her ball handling talents, she can manage the lane, sidestep, or create space. This helps Jones to appear fluid while shooting from mid-range or attacking the hoop. Agility is important in this because she can balance herself out through contact and create a shot that most people couldn’t conceive. Jones is a main defender on her team’s squad. Her greatest strength is her defense. Jones does not give up easily when faced with athletic guards; she fights to prevent anyone from getting open shots or going to the basket. Jones is one of the most skilled ballers I’ve seen all year, and she has a long way to go in her career as she continues to shake up any team she plays against.
