Caliyah DeVillasee has been on my radar for the last month after I saw her show out at elevate elite in late October. Her ability as a scorer and ball handler is high-level, and she is really comfortable running the show for someone so young. She has a silky smooth midrange jump shot, and despite her size, he’s an effective finisher.
Jordan Palmer- Westtown Moose (PA) Class of 2027.
Jordan Palmer was one of the more impressive hoopers I’ve seen recently. She’s athletically gifted and highly skilled around the bucket. Her jump shot from 15 feet in looked good, and she was the best player on a Westtown Moose team that looked like one of the better over the past few days. While her skillet is impressive, it’s not the most significant reason she lands on this list of standouts. Jordan Palmer is in 8th grade, and if you saw her play this weekend, you would be genuinely shocked. She looked like the most athletic player on the floor and will be a significant problem in the future.
Kyndal Walker- St. John’s Cadets (DC) Class of 2024.
I tried to avoid using repeat players on this list, but St John’s PG Kyndal Walker has been extremely impressive on back-to-back days and has left me no choice. Walker was a little less effective as a passer today, but today she showed her colors as a scorer, and perhaps more importantly, she showed her competitive fire. In what was probably the game of the day against St. Anne’s Belfield Walker was everywhere and often matched up with St. Anne’s best player Kymora Johnson Kymora Johnson 5'8" | CG St. Anne's Belfield | 2023 State VA . She is fearless in attacking the rim and shoots the ball well again.
Jessie Moses- Westtown Moose (PA) Class of 2027.
Another Westtown Moose 8th grader that showed out on Saturday is guard Jessie Moses. Moses shot the lights out of the ball and impressed me as a lead guard. She plays the game like a senior who has played high school basketball. Westtown Moose got another good one in Jessie Moses.
Jadyn Donovan- Sidwell Friends Quakers (DC) Class of 2023.
Jadyn Donovan was the best player on a Sidwell Friends team, one of the best in the DMV. Donovan’s a superior athlete; she anchored a Quakers defense that completely shut down PVI. She is a ferocious offensive rebounder and plays with a different motor than the rest of the people on the court. She powered through contact to get 1s and has nice touch around the rim.
Kymora “Mo” Johnson- St. Anne’s Belfield Saints (VA) Class of 2023.
Kymora Johnson Kymora Johnson 5'8" | CG St. Anne's Belfield | 2023 State VA was the best player on Saturday, and it’s not much of a surprise. She’s one of the highest-ranked girls in Virginia, and I had heard a lot about her coming into the day. She is super grifted offensively and fantastic in transition. St. Anne’s likes to run, and her ability to push tempo goes a long way in making that style effective. Her passing is sharp and is very crafty around the rim. She’s not particularly athletic or gifted with length, but it didn’t matter about her getting into the paint and scoring. She is a knockdown shooter who needs little space to get her shot. Johnson was a pest defensively, forcing numerous steals. She is a complete basketball player and will be a force this year.
