It was a great event where the proceeds went to benefit those who are struggling with or caring for people with cancer. Here are some of the standout 2023 guards from the event.
EP Sluder showed off her range shooting the ball, and she had a nice jab step to get the open space for the look. She used this on numerous occasions even taking a nice baseline drive getting two points off a reverse layup. She knew how to quickly respond to a feeling of the momentum shifting by driving hard to the hoop and getting her own basket. She found her teammates cutting to the block on the other end of the court. She showed off a nice floater in the paint off a drive right when her team needed it in the fourth quarter.

Riley Waites was a tough defender alway keeping her opponent in front of her. She was knocking the ball away from her opponents and diving on the floor for loose balls. Her impressive ability to draw charges was fun to watch, too. She was aggressive driving on fast breaks after grabbing steals. She finished on both sides of the basket protecting the ball from getting blocked. She even found herself on the block sealing off opponents to get the pass.

On defense, she jumped into passing lanes grabbing the steal and pushing it right back up the court for a fast break. Her readiness was on display for Northern’s second game, too, as she scored a contested layup right off the jump. She is patient waiting for the opening to drive to the hoop for some points.
Christina Delisa was all over the court diving after loose balls, and she was constantly causing problems on defense. She directed her teammates where to go to get the ball and run offensive plays. She does a nice job making backdoor cuts to get the ball for some points. She made a smart defensive play late in the game tying it up to regain possession.
