The guard play has been by far the best I have seen on the high school level in a very long time. These players prove to be the leaders and top performers for their team. Here are some of the players that stood out to me from the coach’s box.
Eris Lester was by far one the best guards that I faced so far. A player that has all the intangibles to play at the next level. Her ability to score at all 3 levels makes her unguardable at times. I call her a walking bucket. Her 6’0 frame allows her to elevate over her opponents and score at will. She also creates havoc on the defensive end with her ability to get out in the passing lane and deflect passes. A player that gets better every time she touches the court.

Cushion was probably one of the biggest juggernauts. She knows how to read the defense and finds ways to score. A player whose range starts once she crosses half-court. High IQ point guard that knows how to manage the game. She had 26 points and 3-4 from behind the arc. Knows how to get downhill and score through contact at the rim. A player who gets her team going.

Harris was the workhorse who got her team going. She never stops moving to get the ball. A player that uses her length to her advantage. Strong guard that has the skills to post up smaller defenders and shoot over the top of them. Not afraid to pressure up and create turnovers which lead to extra possessions for her team. She can score from all 3 levels.
Asiana Britt is a game changer that has excelled her Camden County Team to a whole different level. A transfer that came in from DME out of Daytona has hit the ground running early. She had by far her best game against South Effingham going for a whopping 30 points. A player that can score at all 3 levels and knows how to get to the rim at will. The ball screen action makes her defenders guard her off the dribble or she can shoot off the screen. A player that has already committed to Jacksonville University.
Harden is a gamechanger that has the ability to take over the game. A player that can score at any given time from anywhere on the court. She has the ability to get downhill which puts pressure on the defense. Her ability to get to the rim and absorb the contact allows for plenty of trips to the free throw line. A player that is not afraid to guard 94ft. 2-way player that fuels her team.
Brown is a player that plays hard on both ends of the floor. Her ability to get to the basket is her biggest assets. She is also automatic from the free throw line. A floor general that gets her team going. Her court vision and her ball handling ability allows her to allude the defense. Has the ability to play inside/out. A player that is not afraid to guard any player uses her quickness to her advantage. Knows how to create turnovers which lead to easy scoring opportunities for her team.
